Joomla-SMF ForumThe anticipation is over! Joomla-SMF Forum 1.0 Beta 1 (aka MSF 1.3.2 Beta 2) is now ready for download. There's a lot of exciting changes to make this component easier to install than it was. This release is for Mambo 4.5.2.x, Joomla 1.0.x, and SMF 1.1.x only. SMF 1.0.5 users should continue using the Mambo-SMF Forum 1.3.1.3.

Easy Installation and Configuration, In No Time!
One of the major changes is the removal of the SMF Mambo MOD. This mod is used to be installed via SMF Manager. For some reason, some users get confused by this, specially those new Joomla (mambo) users, therefore it's gone! All that's needed is install and configure the component! Your Joomla and SMF will be bridged in no time! It can be installed, upgraded, or uninstalled  leaving no mess!

Features:
  • Just one step, easy installation!
  • No more need to hassle with the SMF Package Manager!
  • Utilizes SMF's integration functions.
  • Simple and straight-forward bridge, utilizes existing Joomla and SMF functions (NOT a duplicated SMF or Joomla code within the component).
  • Works with the default Joomla or CB login module.
  • Works on SEO or non SEO mode (SEF).
  • Works wrapped and unwrapped.
  • User can login from Joomla or SMF.
  • User is redirected back to the topic when they login from Joomla.
  • Profile modification is reflected in Joomla user table.
  • Dynamic title.
  • Topic title is added in Meta Description.
  • Topic title is extracted into keywords and added in Meta Keywords.
  • No more copyright violation, SMF copright text left as it is.
  • and more...!

Detailed Installation Instruction:

  • Download SMF from SimpleMachines.org.
  • Install SMF on the same database as Joomla.
  • Extract the Joomla-SMF Forum package:
    * com_joomla_smf_forum_1.0.zip - (main component)
    * mod_smf_login_optional.zip - (optional login module)
    * mod_smf_recent_topics.zip - (optional recent topics module)
  • Install first the component and setup the configuration (follow the INSTALLATION CHECKLIST).
  • After that, you may choose to install the optional login module to make use of the extra configurable links option. If you do this, uninstall the default Joomla login module.
  • Then install the optional recent topics module.
Upgrade Instruction:
Uninstall the previous component and the MamboSMF Mod.

Note:
Some of the older modules might not work with this version (e.g. Discussbot). The reason is, the require SSI.php needs to be in the module code. This part of the code caused havoc for joomla if it's in Joomla's index.php file. We will modify those modules when we get a chance.

Remember, this is BETA. Although this component is now installed in this website and on the demo site, I suggest that you guys test it first before you make an upgrade.

Donation:
If you like this component, a little donation will help for the improvement and continuous development of this component. If you like to donate, just click the donate button from the frontpage.

Thank you.

Thanks for this great component. I was looking for a way to make SMF work in Joomla. It works all fine, I just get one error message:

Notice: Constant WIRELESS already defined in /data/members/paid/f/a/familievanzwol.nl/htdocs/www/smf/index.php on line 84

Any idea what to do about it?

I have installed SMF 1.1 RC2 : Guest
Bridge does not work any more. Are there any fixes for this?
January 3, 2006
Same to me... : Guest
Using Joomla 1.0.5 with JoomlaSMF-Forum 1.0.2a and SMF 1.1RC2 i'm not able to use it as a component.
Usersync works, anyway, and i'm able to wrap it to the site via the Joomla-Wrapper. Anyway i thought it must be able to use it as it is wanted - i would be glad if this coud be fixed (or, well... just explained to me *g*).

Hello... Some Fantastico Help : Requiem
:? :upset

Hi I use Bluehost and am using Joomla as a CMS for a W.i.P project and am wanting to use this bridge however the way I install SMF is via fantastico so I was curious - how do I install SMF onto the same directory as Joomla? And what do I do for the prefix?

A quick reply would be appreciated.
January 20, 2006
datbase prefix : TriKster
The component install is asking for a database prefix for smf, my joomla database is for instance bob70_rtw so bob70 would be my prefix right? If so, the component refuses to install. It just gives an error.

Any ideas?

I have seen a solution for this which actully worked for me. I am pasting the same here. Just replace the code for WIRELESS and put this block of coden
n
/************/n
//JOOMLAHACKS.COMn
if (defined('_VALID_MOS')) {n
$modSettings['integrate_login'] = 'integrateLogin';n
$modSettings['integrate_redirect'] = 'integrateRedirect';n
$modSettings['integrate_exit'] = 'integrateExit';n
$modSettings['enableCompressedOutput'] = '0';n
error_reporting(E_ALL ^ E_NOTICE);n
}n
if (!defined('WIRELESS'))n
define('WIRELESS', isset($_REQUEST['wap']) || isset($_REQUEST['wap2']) || isset($_REQUEST['imode']));n
/************/n
n
Heres is the link to this solutionn

[resolved] Constant WIRELESS already defined : katamar
To resolve you must edit index.php file under your forum dir.
At line 89-90, you must open a "{", like this:
//JOOMLAHACKS.COM
if (defined('_VALID_MOS')) {

and you must close this after this line:
define('WIRELESS', isset($_REQUEST['wap']) || isset($_REQUEST['wap2']) || isset($_REQUEST['imode']));
}

HELP! : mrgc
i have every time the same error. images/cry.gif

"Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ';' in /srv/www/htdocs/web37/html/administrator/components/com_smf/config.smf.php on line 6"

This message comes directly when i hit the "save" Button after setting the CHMOD permissons with ftp client.

The Possible reason could be, that i cannot make the jommla Installation-dir writable. My Jommla lies direct in the /html Folder for direct "linking" to the index.php when the visitor types in the URL in His Browser.

How could i fix this Problem?

Still getting error : jharris : http://www.gigtickets.ca
I was getting this error so installed Joomla-SMF Forum 1.0 Beta 1 which, I thought, would fix this problem.

Parse error: parse error, unexpected ';' in /hsphere/local/home/jlherron/gigtickets.ca/administrator/components/com_smf/config.smf.php on line 4

Any suggestions?

Hi

Just installed the bridge and I have had high hopes - the forum is working and I get no install errors but when I add the bridge to my menu - I see nothing when I click on it. Is it the Bridge component I should be adding?

thanks
