Can't get into admin in SMF
« on: November 16, 2005, 10:58:42 PM »

Hello all! There's nothing I hate more than asking an obvious or st$p$d question on my first post, but seems I'm destined to do it anyway.

Joomla 1.0.3
SMF 1.1 RC1

Used bridge 1.0.2a.

Everything seemed to install okay, but when I was setting it up in the SMF installation, I entered a unique admin name and password, different than my Joomla admin name and password.

Once installed, everything worked, and when I logged into Joomla as admin (Joomla admin), it shows me with a user name as "Administrator" in SMF, but I don't see any "admin" buttons. It's like I'm just a user with the name "Administrator".

I manually deleted the users from the tables (the SMF tables), and uploaded the install files again and did the install again, but this time I entered the same admin name and password as my Joomla account. I ended up with an error, telling me that that name already existed.

What did I do wrong, or what did I miss?

Thanks in advance-

In fact The bridge will check for usernames on both tables, SMF and Joomla and will synchronise them of course every non-existing account in SMF will be created as a user not as an admin, now the admin of joomla is admin and not Administrator, Administrator is just the Display name (aka , in joomla, Name), so here's how to proceed

Install SMF with an admin account : admin

go to admin menu of the bridge, install joomla-SMF bridge, patch files, install the Joomla-SMF Login Module 1.3, now you are ready to proceed,
logging in via that login module using mambo password will overwrite SMF password and vice versa, in another word, logging in will synchronise passwords on both joomla and SMF and since it is the same account (admin) you can login with admin and have Joomla and SMF admin priviledges

hope that helps

I'm having the exact same issue only I created the user names to be exactly the same and no matter what method I vchoose to login as I cannot gain access top the SMF admin section.  Anyone have any suggestions?
