Upload component - Failed
« on: November 10, 2005, 05:28:57 PM »

I´ve do the following installation.

On windows XP PC:

Apache/2.0.55 (Win32)
PHP Version 5.0.5
Mysql 5
Joomla 1.03
SMF 1.1RC1

NO other components are installed on Joomla.

Joomla and SMF are working perfectly, but fails to install the Joomla-SMF Forum component, and get the following error message:

Another component is already using directory: "C:\Apache2\htdocs\LivingInChile\components\com_smf\"

Any idea of what could be happening?

Thanks for your help

Maybe the components folder is not writeable?
Make sure it is, and administrator/components folder as well.

Also, if they exist, try deleting components/com_smf and administrator/components/com_smf.

Have you patched all the needed files from the bridge's admin? Also take a second look at the settings (the paths and database) and make sure everything is fine.

I'm sorry but I don't now what you mean for patching all needed files, I'm using com_joomla_smf_forum_1.0.2a.zip file, is that OK?, where is that patch?. Regarding database I use the same data base as Joomla and use jos_ prefix for Joomla and smf_ prefix for smf, path is /htdocs/joomla/smf

what afonic means, is to go into (your Joomla/Mambo backend) Components > Joomla-SMF > Configuration.

Under installation checklist, click patch.

From the above error i think you are trying to install it above a previous installtion, am i right? because first you had a folder problem (already exists) and the error above means that the bridge already exists in your database...

aanyway try the following:

using phpmyadmin execute this code
Code:
REMOVE FROM jos_menu
WHERE `name`='Forum'
LIMIT 1

Then delete the folders administrator/components/com_smf, components/com_smf

Now try to install it again

@kai920 & afonic: he didn't install it yet to patch files so he don't have Joomla-SMF in his admin component menu...
