i am the admin (gfx) at a new mambo site
soon we will be transferring our forum to this new site
until then, I would like to make some changes at the new site
such as color - add graphics - etc
do I need to download the application " phpbb "
so that i can access certain files
or is there a way to change/add to the present site/template
right now it is just a default plesk template (?)

Honestly, i don't quite understand what you're trying to achieve.

If you're referring to just changing the mambo template, all you need to do is upload and publish a new temnplate. Phpbb has nothing to do with acessing certain files.

You can also change the appearance of your mambo/joomla-template by editing the template_css.css file of an existing template.

i'll download a template onto my computer
play with it a bit
and try to upload it with smartftp
