Logs out when browser closes

Hi there,

I have some trouble with my site (www.dvd-guides.com). When some user logins, then closes the browser (without logout) and opens the browser window and comes to the site again, he is logged out. That happens even if he selects "Remember me" or "Forever" (in SMF). I know its not a problem with the bridge as this site works. Something else I can add, is that the "time online" value appears to be stuck to some value.

I tried with both Mozilla and IE, in different PCs, with cleared cookies and cache in all cases.

I use Joomla 1.0.3, SMF 1.1 RC1 and the 1.0.2a bridge. I also use the custom login module.

Additional info, I use PHP 4.4.1 and I have changed the site's path once (one directory back, I have edited /admininstrator/com_smf/config.smf.php and all the other required files).

Any suggestions?

I just checked it.

If you look at the cookie info from Firefox cookie list, the cookie expiration is correct. So the user must always be logged in.

The only difference I see is the SMF cookie path, it's stored in "/forum". Try changing it to root.

Let me know what happen.

However I cannot find in which file this cookie setting is, can you guide me?

Hi,

it was that the "Enable local storage of cookies" setting. After I disabled that, the cookie path is back to / and "Remember me" works.  Smiley

Well done, that bridge is excellent and the support you provide here is pro level! I did a small donation, its not much but I hope it will help with the development.

Thanks for this tip. This is really helpful. I guess I need to compile these type of issues and solutions.
