First SMF install
« on: October 31, 2005, 02:54:11 AM »

Hey,

I just installed SMF first time and I must say I'm impressed. Well done.

One open question that I might be quite common, but I haven't found the answer yet.

How can I ensure that my new users (registrations) are added to both table groups (Joomla! and SMF)?

I've found the config
Registration module to use:      SMF Mambo CB

But this makes only one registration. I would need to register the user in both databases.

Then I thought no prob. There is a user sync. But this seems to do nothing. It only tells me that both db's are in sync. But new users are not added to any of these databases.

I'm using
Joomla! 1.0.3
SMF 1.0.2

everything in one db and patched.

Ta

Whatever registration form you use, the user data will be synced on both tables during login.

Hey,

it does not really work Sad.

Let's see as this is working on your site.

I'm using the SMF login module as well. The user is registrating directly in the Joomla!/Mambo database.

After login the user menu is visible, but the login module is still showing the user/password input AND the user is not logged in in the forum.

When the user exists in both tables it is possible that the user can login in the forum and after that everything looks like it should.

If you give me a hint where to look I can find out and give you more details.

We have done a second installation on a different server now. There everything works out of the box.

If you see at baim.thinkmatrix.net you can register yourself at the site. This registration results in a mambo registration.

After login the sync with the forum does not work.

Can it be that this is related to certain forum configurations?

Please make sure from the bridge's admin in Joomla that all required files are patched and that the path to to forum is correct.

Also, clear your browser's cookies before you try again.

Alex,

If it's not automatically syncing or you're not being logged on the other system, it means the bridge is not properly configured. Please check on the component admin as afonic suggested. Look at the Installation Checklist.
