Now I really need some help. I have unpatched the patched files gone back to the original login modules and I still get the error. My site is down and useless.
Well after numerous patches and unpatches, installs and uninstalls I have the login back as long as the index.php is unpatched. If anyone has any ideas how to get this to work please let me know. I guess in the mean time I will have to look for other solutions as I really need an operational forum for my site.
I have the same problem- so it's present on 1.0.1a, 1.0.1b, 1.0.2a and on Apache and IIS from the looks of things :-(
And have tried the SMF-Joomla 1.3 login mod and it still fails!
WHY? I would really like to continue to use SMF and get this to work.
PLEASE Cowboy please help us out - there are at least 3 of us with this problem, Rick on Apache 1.3.33 and me on IIS6.
What is the 'login problem' of which y'all speak?? Don't sound very helpful to me at all to just shout help without a clear description of exactly what is happening, what your configuration is and an indication of what assistance you need!
For example, at our Republican Rape Crisis Training Centers, we teach the women to, instead of screaming "RAPE", scream instead "Help!, I am being assaulted by a man with a very large (censored) shoes! I am 36-24-35! Please send cigarettes!"
I have the same problem others have described. Once I apply the patch to index login doesn't work anymore. So I did some chasing through the code to see where it was failing.
In administrator/components/com_smf/functions.smf.php
funcion doMamboSMF
This line: $validcode = isValidUser($data, $username, $password); returns a 1 and invokes a URL GET redirect. index.php?option=com_smf&action=login2&hash_passwrd=0&user=me&passwrd=password&cookielength=15 (with my real password )
I cant find any code that operates off action=login2, what should it be doing at this point? Up till now I've only seen it validate the data and issue the redirect.
If I set $validcode to 0 it logs in to Joomla only.
What we are talking about as stated in 3 or 4 places in this thread is the "You are not authorized to view this resource. You need to login." problem. This has been reported in other threads as well as other boards and so far has not been seriously looked at or resolved. Since you are having problems finding these posts here in this thread here are links to them:
With the index.php patched I when loggin into Joomla I get
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare db_query() (previously declared in D:\inetpub\vhosts\boiledsweets.com\subdomains\dev\httpdocs\forum\Sources\Subs.php:234) in D:\Inetpub\vhosts\boiledsweets.com\subdomains\dev\httpdocs\forum\Sources\Subs.php on line 234
If I reload the page I am actually logged in. However if I logout I get the same error.
As I have stated before the install is correct and all settings are correct.
Tried Joomla 1.0.1, 1.0.2 and 1.0.3 Tried SMF-Bridge 1.0.1, 1.0.1a, 1.0.1b, 1.0.2 and 1.0.2a SMF 1.1 rc1
I had one of those 'middle of the night' thoughts on this problem.
My SMF menu item is "Registered" as I only want registered users to have the link. I realized that the "You are not authorized.." is the same message a guest would get if he tried to use the URL directly.
So I changed the link from registered to public and it all works fine now. Seems the Bridge is logging into SMF first and Joomla second.
that has to be it. My Forums menu is on the USER menu, so they would only see it if logged in. hmmm... I guess menu placement may be a relevant thing to post with configuration info hmmm?
Actually yes, this is one of the problems. I can second that, I had registered or special permission set on some menu items and when removed the problem went away but then it came back.
THE value of the itemid var does not matter, as long as it's there and it's not empty or 0
To get rid of it for now I manually edited my login/user module and changed the login form to a simple link pointing to the smf login page. But this means loggin on will always redirect to the forums, and it's kind of inconvenient for users to have to leave their current and look it back up after logging on. Hope this helps.

Well I finally got mine to work again but am not sure what the fix is. I have completely wiped out and reinstalled everything 2 or 3 times with no luck. This last time I just uninstalled all forum components, went in through FTP and wiped out all remnants of SMF, with into mysql and wiped all SMF tables. Then I reinstalled SMF from scratch, reinstalled the joomla components and it all started working. I am trying to get a good backup now while it works so if anything goes wrong I can just restore it. For the moment I am happy but I sure wish I knew what caused it in the first place and what the fix was in the second place. My hope are that once RC2 comes out for CB that some improvements will be made for the Joomla/SMF integration. Although I am hearing that may not be likely. If SMF does not change their stance and actively use/support the CB integration I will be looking elsewhere.
