mod_smf_login_1.1.zip - To Install Or Not To Install
« on: October 09, 2005, 01:32:46 AM »

Since there is the new handy feature in the component to choose Mambo/Joomla, SMF or CB login, is it necessary to install mod_smf_login_1.1.zip and why? I selected SMF login, and, on the surface, all seems to work fine. The installation readme does not mention installing this mod. It only reads:

1. Install Joomla-SMF Forum component.
2. Configure the component. All Installation Checklist
items must be marked "installed" and "done".

Am I missing something or is all truly OK?

Vitals:
Joomla 1.0.2 Stable
SMF 1.1 RC1
JoomlaSMFForum 1.0.1b

Thanks in advance.

It's not necessary. It's just that, when you have it installed... the link to "register" and "lost password" will be pointing to SMF's, if you select SMF registration form. And the same for CB.

What's the difference b/t Joomla's and SMF's "register" and "lost password" functions? What do you recommend? What do you use and why?

Since you mentioned it, is CB working solidly enough with Joomla, SMF and your component? I would love to be able to capture more info on my members during registration.

Thanks again.

There's no difference. Either will work. It's just for the consistency.

CB works, but it's not fully integrated. It only means that when you use CB Login, it will still sync with SMF login and registration.
