Before I install the Joom-SMF update to 1.0.1b (from 1.0.1), I have a question about the uninstall process mentioned in the ReadMe.
Quote
1. Uninstall the previous version of the component, recent topics modules, and optional login module. 2. Uninstall the SMF Mod from SMF Package Manager.
Re: the steps to "uninstall." Does this merely mean to "unpublish" or is it necessary to unpublish and delete, as well.
Being new to this whole world, I just want to get it right the first time, and I'm not quite sure yet what the steps in the instructions really mean. I figure that will make for less trouble down the line.
This means uninstall, which will remove the files from your system. You have to go to "Installers", "Components" and select Joomla-SMF Forum and click uninstall. The same with the module.
Thanks. That makes sense. I'll get the hang of it eventually.. after an update or two. It seems that most of the manual instructions assume that users already know how it all works. I need the "beginners version" of the manuals, which break things down to the newbie level, for people who know nothing about the process.
Thanks for your patience.

That's good news. You know, what I really wish is that I had as-needed contact with someone who could serve as a "mentor" of sorts.. to answer my dumb questions as they come up.. more about Joomla than SMF or the Bridge.
I'm somewhat of an expert in my own field (which is audio and recording) and help out on a number of pro audio forums, answering Q's for the newer users, but I'm really a newbie myself with this whole Joomla thing. So I guess I just feel bad about asking the dumb questions here. I know about the problem of trying to help users who won't bother to look in the manual.. but the Joomla manual leaves a bit to be desired as far as instructions go. For instance, it may tell what a setting does, but doesn't really explain how to use that function. This is quite frustrating for me, in trying to figure out how to use this amazing new product.
