://www.joomlahacks.com/images/stories/icon_mambot.The discuss bot is released for Joomla-SMF forum 1.0.1b+[/strong]. There's only one line of fix to make it work for Joomla but I made some improvements:
. . .
Ok its out. 1. Remember you need Joomla-SMF 1.0.1b. 2. Don't forget to publish the bot! 3. If caching is on, the number of discuss post will not be reflected in real time.

1. if you want the SMF topic title prefix to be "[discuss] " (with a space at the end) use
Code:
[discuss]
2. initially my comments were all aligned weird, to the right. I added this to my template's CSS file as a temporary fix to align everything to the left
Code:
a.link_pos { float: left; }
Let me know if these help.
edit #1 - adding the space seems to mess up the system... it doesn't recongize the already started threads!

question: when the thread has not been created yet (no one's clicked the discuss link), does whomever click it first become to "topic starter"?
yes.
I have a separate forum for discussing articles. I do not wish that users can start topics there - how can I automate this so the mambot autowrites first post as admin, or another user specified in mambot config?
And, isn't it better to have this syntax as content of that first post?:
Finally got it working great they should make it clearer that it is only for SMF RC1, I had some really wierd responses on the website, until I read a post here.
We want to get our publishers using discussbot how do we create a button similar to mosimage in mosce??
if we place at the end of the intro text, it will show up nicely on a "news" page, right before the read more button.
but once you click read more to open the article, and if you have the rest of your article in the main text area, the {mos_smf_discuss} tag ends up being in the middle, splitting the two.
if you put the tag only at the end of main text, then {mos_smf_discuss} does not show on a "news page".
