Login Module grammar problem
« on: October 02, 2005, 10:45:30 PM »

After the default installation of the new login module (v1.0.1), during logged-out status, the prompt reads, "Welcome Guest," and that's it.  A comma that leads to nothing (i.e., starts with a sentence structure but does not terminate in a period).

During logged-in status, you get "Welcome <username>, you have <x> messages, <x> are new."  That's proper grammar.

There is no way around this problem.  If I remove the before text, I get "Guest," during logged-out status.  Again, bad grammar.

If I add after text, the original problem of course remains.

On a related but different note, the installation page for the bridge configuration refers to Mambo.  The author did not bother to change the word Mambo to Joomla.

Hope this helps.

Paul, go to the configuration and add a post-text.
I did, try that and tell me what you get.  You'll see what I'm referring to.  Be sure to compare the logged-in and logged-out states.

The pre-text and post-text also stay when you have logged in so for instance I  have some post-text that says "If the wish to contribute to myMacpad then please login." which works great to inform users to login, but it also displays that informations AFTER a user has logged in.

I feel we need pre-text and post-text input fields for BEFORE login and AFTER login so that we can tailor the text depending on the state on login.

Also I currently hack my login module to display a 'Join Now' graphic instead of the 'register' link.  Would it be possible to add a feature in 1.0.2 to be able to specify text link or url to graphic.

Keep up the good work.

Paul,

I'm really overwhelemed from all the posts. I'm trying to respond to each, but as you know I have a real work. I will try to address the issue for 1.0.2.

I would appreciate if some php gurus or joomla masters here would reply.  Wink
