So we've just upgrade our production site to the last version on SMF and SMF Mambo Bridge. We're using Mambo 4.5.2, SMF 1.1beta3 public and Mambo SMF Forum 1.3.2beta1.
Within SMF only (so direct link to the forum's URL), everything works perfect. We can reply to existing message or PM, create new messages and new PM.
When we're trying from the integrated forum in Mambo, we can create new messages, we can create new PM but we can't reply to a message on the forum. Nevertheless it is possible to reply to a PM !!!
So, strange behaviour. The only thing I can see is a error in the browser (IE 6.0 SP2 on WinXP Home Edition SP2)
With a common user profile I have "error line 514 ..../index.php?option=com_smf&itemid=199&expv=0&action=post;topic=192.0;num_replies=22"
With the admin profile I have the same error but on line 520 !
In both case, the textarea where the message is type isn't shown ! Everything else on the page appear normally.
So, when I try to save the page I have en error message that notify me that the page cannot been save because one file is missing ?
We tried with templates for SMF 1.0 and SMF 1.1 but on all templates we tried we have the same behaviour.
Case is urgent because we've update our production site. We had first installed same configuration on a development server but we didn't seen that problem. Therefore we've upgraded the production box
If it worked on your development box, the problem probably lies on the server or software version differences. I installed the latest version too on my other website, and didn't see any major problem. Or maybe I haven't encounter one. But this is the reason why we released this version as Beta.
Maybe I can figure out the issue if you post your url with a test account. I wish I could help now.
I forgot to say in my original message that our forum is in French and therefore it could be the reason that nobody had this error before (most site are english sites). By erroring and trialing a bit I could see the HTML code on the page with the error.
function moreSmileys() { var row, i; if (smileyPopupWindow) smileyPopupWindow.close();
The line error is the else. And effectively this else seems to be a little bit too lonely... isn't it ? Unfortunetaly I still didn't have found who this page is generated... Still looking for.. So If somebody could whisper in my ear...
So, finally I've implemented a workaround. It seems that the problem is linked due to the popup window for some smileys.
So I've simply commented all lines within file $boarddir/themes/default/post.template.php from the then block starting after comment ' If they are additional smileys (lie 868 to 917) in my code and move all smileys from popup window over the text area. Strange is that within SMF the popup windows was working fine.... So any idea ?
Cowboy if you still need a test user let me know.

im using the mambo cms wit the latest smf 1.1rc2 and ofcourse also that latest module to get the forum to work with mambo..
it seems that all things that is using a javascript is being blocked or not being used, so when using more smileys as a popup the board will get those nasty errors of the page even the edit button doesnt work and i can go on...
the forum does work as normal in single but when used in mambo its a messy thing..
I forgot to say in my original message that our forum is in French and therefore it could be the reason that nobody had this error before (most site are english sites).
I doubt this, because I'm guessing that local version is also in French
The version of the bridge is key because it takes into account the significant changes in SMF 1.1 rc2 versus the previous version.
You may also want to consider re copying all of your *.js files making sure copy mode is ASCII (many times Javascript execution problems are corrupted files uploaded in the wrong file mode or edited with the wrong type of editor)
You really need to but a second installation of your software on your host, so you should have two test environments: A local one for convenience and one on the same host for accuracy.
If you compare the results of a phpinfo() on either machine you may find them to be different.
