Corrupted Attachments
« on: July 23, 2007, 12:11:18 PM »

I'm generally very happy with the Joomla-SMF bridge, but I've encountered one problem.

Most attachments on posts on the forum become corrupted during the download. The only ones where this appears not to happen are plain text files. I know it's a problem with the download, not the upload, because the files on the server are not corrupted, only after downloading they are. It appears to be a problem with the bridge since it only occurs when I patch SMF via the Joomla-SMF admin utilities, on the unpatched SMF, the attachment downloads work just fine.

I'm using Joomla 1.0.9 with SMF 1.1.3 and Joomla-SMF 2.0.2.

Curiously enough, when I installed a fresh Joomla! (even of the exact same version) and SMF and the bridge, it worked there, so maybe one of my files is damaged and causing this?

Any idea where I should start looking?

First thing Upgrade Joomla! to 1.0.12 (for security reasons) Upgrading to version 1.0.13 I do not advise Why there is a small issue with the logging module. Read more on the forums about this issue

I've compared the original file and corrupted files binaryly, the corrupted ones seem to be add some additional data at the beginning of the file.

my Joomla version: 1.0.12
my SMF version: 1.1.4
my Joomla-SMF version: 2.0.2

check the following link please:

Do you have the optimal settings for Joomla, SMF and JSMF according the JSMF manual? e.g. file compression off and so on? Try to disable all caching and compression in Joomla, SMF and JSMF.

Hi all.
I have the same problem with attachments.

Joomla version: 1.0.12 (converted UTF-8 version)
SMF version: 1.1.4
Joomla-SMF version: 2.0.2.1
Community Builder 1.1
PHP version 5.2.4
MySQL version 4.1.22-standard
Joomla and SMF are installed into the same db, SFM is in separate /forum/ Joomla sub-folder on server.

I have SMF running in 'Wrapped Integration Mode'=NO in Joomla. Everything works fine except the attachments in posts. They are corrupted in posts but they are fine on server.

I found one interesting thing....

If I try to download them using current link like:
_http://_myserver.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=30&action=dlattach;topic=2.0;attach=27
the attachment is corrupted and it's unreadable (jpeg can't be viewed) locally after download.

But if I try a bit another URL like:
_http://_myserver.com/forum/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=30&action=dlattach;topic=2.0;attach=27
I can download correct image and view it locally.

What do you think ?
Thanks.

PHP version 5.2.4

There are problems reported with PHP 5.2.x. Please search the forum for the solution.

Heiii!!

I'm encountering the same problems as above.
I have
joomla 1.0.15,
smf 1.1.4,
jsmf 2.0.2.1 and
php 5.2.0.

Then I post an attachment (picture) I can see the thumbnail and download link, but when I click on thumbnail it disapear. I can then download picture using download link, but some users can't even do that.

It's strange, if I go directly to forum page I can open that image and download it with no problems.

Joomla:
http://www.aquanubis.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,41/topic,4836.msg47496/#msg47496

SMF:
http://www.aquanubis.com/forum/index.php?topic=4836.msg47496#msg47496

I read quite some posts but I guess I cant find the right one.

I would really like to use attachments on forum.

lp, Matej

Like I said it could be the a php version problem. You can try to lower your PHP version by adding the next line to your .htaccess:

Code:
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php51 .php

Please let me know if it works.

I don't have php 5.1 on my server. Only 5.2. I will try to install 5.1 now and see what happens.

btw, the function "onclick="return expandThumb(494);"" is the one having problems.
