Since the release of Joomla! 1.5 beta2, I am waiting for a new SMF bridge for Joomla! 1.5. But very sad to see that there is NO one !

I think the JSMF 2.0.2.1 bridge can be converted to a native Joomla! 1.5 component, with its modules and mambots.

If somebody want to do this job, please tell me your price. If I can afford it, I will pay you.

Hi baijianpeng,

The problem is not to make a bridge, but distributing it. The SMF and Joomla licence makes it not possible. I you find someone to make the bridge for you. The product must be solely for you and the developer cant sell/give it to others. This will make your bridge quite expensive.

Thanks for your response. I think I can't afford that expensive developement.

I will try to convert the JSMF to Joomla! 1.5 version my self.

If I can't finish this job, I think I will give up SMF, since I need Joomla! to install many other extensions.

So as you know the frame work from J! 1.0.* and 1.5 is totally different. So the bridge has to be rewritten from scratch. This is what both developers did for the J! 1.5 frame work. (Orstio (Simple Machines) and –Wolverine(Joomlahacks))But both stopped with developing of the Bridge for J! 1.5

If you choose to release an SMF-Joomla bridge
1- It can not contain any SMF code. (no redistribution of smf, per smf license)
2- If it uses the SMF data structure to link to Joomla, or uses joomla data
structures within SMF, you are in violation of the GPL (per the FSF).
This may amount to nothing, but POTENTIALLY, you are liable for breaking the joomla license.
