This is a bad news for all of those thousands of JSMF users. We NEED to upgrade to Joomla! 1.0.14 to avoid found security issues, but if JSMF can't work with Joomla! 1.0.14, what should we do?
The options there are is to migrate to Mambo or when you want to stuck with J! you can migrate to PHPbb or an forum extension for J!
I don't know what happened between official teams of Joomla! and SMF, and I DON'T CARE. I think all JSMF users ONLY care one thing: let SMF work with Joomla! as usual.
We also have to respect the SMF and the Joomla! licence. I placed an request for developer months ago. The only reply’s I get, when there is an Bridge coming for J! 1.5.
Sometimes I get small bug fixes of some off the community. (thanks to those) These update can be found on Joomlabridge.org forums and download section.
You had mentioned JFusion. But in my eyes, JFusion is not a bridge at all. It has no threat to JSMF.
Yes this is not an Bridge. And it still in Alpha stage.
Do those JSMF developers also have some un-pleasant issue with Joomla! official team? Even so, you should not stop developing JSMF for Joomla!, because this abandonment ONLY hurts JSMF users, NOT the Joomla! team.
Sorry,. –Wolverine has announced this months ago. Cowboy has not pickup the project. He also is an busy man. So please read the announcement off –wolverine.
Please pick up the JSMF for Joomla! project and help us, thank you very much !
I’m still willing to coordinate etc the project. But when there is no developer there is noting to pick up.
So when there is an developer that is willing to pickup the developing of the SMF bridge. He or she can take contact with me. At this moment I spent my time with Supporting Mambo on the Mambo-foundation forums and testing the SMF 2.0 Mambo bridge for Simple Machines.
I just migrate my first site to Mambo and the SMF Bridge. And in the near future also Joomlabridge.org will migrate. Then I will upgrade SMF to version 2.0 and when mambo 4.7 is out I migrate J! to Mambo.
So for now one there is no Development and there is not coming any updates for the Bridge. And there is also not coming an Bridge for J! 1.5 or even for SMF 2.0.
So my advice for those how want to keep there SMF forums with an CMS. Just migrate to Mambo.
The future is bright the future is Mambo ;-)
Kind regards,
Daan
