I have a problem with the patching the index.php in the admin panel. Since i upraded to the new version 1.0.15 from 1.0.14, the patching of the index.php fails.
Can anybody please help me?
Thanks

Probably a permissions problem. Try to chmod the index.php to 777; do the JSMF patching and afterwards you set the permissions of index.php to 644. Don't forget the last step!
You can manually patch it yourself. Unzip the patched 1.0.11 index.php, and search for JOOMLAHACKS.COM. Those are the lines added/modified by the patch. Copy them to your 1.0.14's index.php in around the same place.

I'm having the same problem - patch doesn't take. Tried manually patching, but still have other problems. If we're expected to patch this manually, perhaps precise code and placement should be provided. Better yet - fix Joomla-SMF to properly patch the index.php.
Very weird. I installed J! 1.0.15 without any problems. What I did: chmod 777 index.php, set Joomla and SMF in maintance mode, unpatch the joomla files in the JSMF installation section. FTP the patch. And do the reverse of the above. Don't forget to chmod the index.php to 644!
Originally, when trying to apply the patch, I got the error: "Code to be patched not found in file: header( 'Expires//index.php"
I've reverted back to my previous version of Joomla and have setup a local test server. I tried to manually patch as instructed. However, I get different errors now. When logging in the front-end, I get a pop-up that the username or password is incorrect. But I do get logged in. However, the bridge doesn't work, because I go to SMF and I'm not logged in. When I try to login directly to SMF, the username and password doesn't work at all. When I try to logout, I'm returned to SMF, although I have it set to return to index.php.
The backend does allow me to patch now, but I have the same results as above when I manually applied the patch lines into index.php.
If you have a patched copy of Joomla 1.0.15 index.php, perhaps you can send that to me. I can either try it, or compare with my version. I don't have any other patches to it.
Side note - I am using Community Builder also and wondered if that's a player in this problem.
Larry: are you sure you are using version JSMF 2.0.2.1? In the local install, it looks like the problems of the original JSMF 2.0.2 and J! 1.0.13 with the salty password hash.
I had re-installed the latest version available in the downloads section on this website. I checked - it was version 2.0.2. I uninstalled, downloaded and re-installed again. Still version 2.0.2.
I found version 2.0.2.1 in the forums! . Uninstalled version 2.0.2 and installed the 2.0.2.1 version. IT WORKED!
THANKS for all your help and suggestions!
To the webmasters: why not place the download for vesion 2.0.2.1 in the DOWNLOADS section of the website instead of an abscure link in the forums?

Did you read the forums. There is no Moderation any more on the forums. And JSMF 2.0.2.1 is released by Kevin after –Wolverine has announced to stop developing the Bridge.
And at this moment there is almost no more Support left on Joomlahacks forums. Yes this is to bad for al off those how want to use this Bridge. There are placed several announcements for Search of Developers how want to adopt the Bridge and for Support members. And these are also placed on http://joomlabridge.org
One off the biggest issues there is almost no Support and no Development is, is the GPL license off Joomla! The bridge as it is at this moment. Is not compatible with the Joomla! GPL license. It is uses direct code off the SMF source. This is all ready disused several times on the Joomla! And Simple Machines forums. For more information check these forums.
Some off use are now involved at the Mambo Bridge project from Simple Machines and with the Mambo Foundation. Or even are stopped with Supporting Development etc.
There are many discussions by the Third party developers. More and more are making there extensions compatible with Mambo.
There is no Bridge any more, there is something like it in development and that is Called Jfusion. But this is still in alpha stage.
Kind regards, Daan aka Livebox

Thanks for the info / history. No, I didn't read the forums. I just don't have time to read everything on all of the various programs and components I utilize in maintaining 6 various websites in addition to software development and sales.
I appreciate the extra efforts put out to keep this bridge working.

To Larry Farquhar: how about telling us where you found this obscure link in the forums? I can't find it! The more places it is mentioned, the better it will be found :-)
Note: after installing this update, I still had problems, albeit different ones, but then I did an extra 'sync users' in the Community Builder component, under 'Tools', and it all works good now: Joomla 1.0.15, SMF 1.1.4, JSMF 2.0.2.1, CB 1.1. All working together as if I never tried to upgrade from Joomla 1.0.12 ;-)
