Go to administration of SMF > Choose Forum maintenance > "recount totals and statistics" and "search and repair errors". That fixed it for me. (I don't use SMF in english, so function names could be different)
My site has the same problem, but "recount totals and statistics" and "search and repair" don't fix it, in my situation. A strange thing is that only registered users can't read threads with more than 1 page while visitors see correctly all the threads. This is one of the guilty threads http://eccelinux.org/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,26/topic,370.0/
Got exactly the same problem. Joomla-Installation is up and running, SMF-board also.
But the problem ist still there. Public boards can be read by anyone if he/she is not registered. Once you register and try to view the same board, it seems to be blocked somehow. Even the board's head does not show up. No error message or whatsoever can be found.
I am using PHP version 5.2.3 and I have no problems. So if PHP version is the problem you should stick to below that version. Some hosts allow the next rule in the .htaccess file to change your php version:
Code:
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php51 .php
This would set PHP to version 5.1.0. Please let me know if this helps.
Yours is a good solution too. Unfortunately I didn't know that php version was the problem untill I found the solution because they didn't send me any php upgrade comunication.
Now I'm using php 5.1 (via .htaccess) for solving hosting stability problems with my site.
Is there anyway to change from php 5.2.5 to 5.2.4 using .htaccess? The problem with going back to 5.1 is that you have to deal with the register_globals and you don't have to with 5.2.5. Not sure if you have to with 5.2.4, but it would be nice to try it and have 5.2.4 fix both the blank topic and the register_globals.
