Anyone get this to work together?

I'm totally new to Joomla, been a PN user for years..  Decided to start a new site up, and wanted a fresh look.  Was suprised with all the support that there are no 'ported' modules to "plug-in" to Joomla (like pnPhpbb2, the phpbb2 conversion for instance), and everyone raves about this SMF forum engine..  But - Like some others I saw on here, when i go through the configuration and click on the "click to patch Patch Joomla Source Files.", I get the following error:

Failed: Code to be patched not found in file: require_once( 'includes/frontend.php' );/myserverpath(edited)/Joomla/index.php

What can I do?  Is there any way to manually do whatever needs be done?  Please advise - Or worst case, point me in a forum package direction that works? Sad  Thanks!

Please search the forums, and you will read that there is not coming an Bridge for Joomla 1.5 in the near future.

Best option is Mambo @ this moment. There is also an Bridge in development for SMF 2.0 Wink All ready testing it Wink

Oh no need to search.. I saw that post yesterday before I posted..

But there is a difference between something "officially working with and supported" and "hey dude - If you do this and that you can make it work".  If SMF is the bombdiggity that everyone touts it to be, than I'm sure someone has managed to make your bridge work with it, no?

That said, what is your official recommendation then if I "DO" want to use it, officially..  Downgrade to the older version of Joomla or run mambo?  This is day three for me with these CMS's.. I'm a lifelong Postnuke user, and chose 1.5 Joomla because that's what the people recommended..  Please advise..
