| I'm an experienced software developer with a fair amount of web development experience but this is my first time setting up a Joomla/SMF website. I'm trying to follow the JSMF documentation but I have some questions that aren't covered in the documentation. 1. wrapped vs unwrapped - this isn't really explained very well. I assume that when referring to SMF being "wrapped" in Joomla, SMF is an actual page within the joomla site, something akin to old school html frames. Is wrapped the "preferred" installation. i.e. the one that will cause me the least problems maintaining? 2. I've seen sites that use http://forums.mydomain.com (a subdomain) and others that use http://www.mydomain.com/forums. Is there any pro or con to setting up SMF one way or the other as far as JSMF is concerned? Does the wrapped/unwrapped thing figure into this at all? 3. Assuming I use joomla 1.0.13, SMF 1.1.3, CB 1.1, and JSMF 2.0.2.x, are there any serious issues that I should watch out for from an installation or maintenance standpoint? I understand that there are a lot of ways to install and configure everything, but I want to set it up in whichever way will avoid the most problems in the future. |
