Joomla 1.5 SMF bridge
« on: July 26, 2007, 02:48:33 AM »

whilst joomla 1.0.13 bridge is not yet out i want to start about Joomla! 1.5. RC1 just arrived and within a month we have RC2 and stable version comes close quickly. RC1 can already be used on livesites (it's save to do it) but... there is no bridge yet (or will there ever be a bridge?).
How do the developers of JSMF see this?

We know that 1.5 with 1.0 legacy mode enabled will not render the JSMF good (also because index.php changed a lot and can't be patched) solution for that would be the new system plugins. I guess it will be quite a work to convert the component to a 1.5 component.

also, SMF2.0 is underway also Wink

Is there even any work started on a bridge for Joomla 1.5? Seems 1.5 is the way to go these days as 1.0 stuff isnt being supported much anymore i was more or less forced to move over to 1.5 and now i cant find everything i need to get my site back up and going.

Any timeframe?

Joomlahacks and Simplemachines aren't developing a bridge for Joomla 1.5.x and SMF 2.0 Nor will they in the near future, due to several reasons (GPL issues and a lack of time)

There are some other intiatives, but they aren't stable enough for use on a live site.

BTW the Joomla 1.0.x series is still supported by the Joomla team.
