Joomla-SMF Bridge help
« on: July 12, 2007, 07:22:00 PM »

I recently installed the newest versions of Joomla and SMF. Having trouble getting the SMF bridge to config. The proble I am getting is at the Joomla-SMF Forum Configuration in the admin Components-->Joomla SMF Forum-->Configuration.  I have this error on the page

Warning: file_exists() [function.file-exists]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/index.php) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/flynbak3:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp) in /home/flynbak3/public_html/cichlidspot/administrator/components/com_smf/functions.smf.php on line 930

here is a screen shot  http://www.cichlidspot.net/joomla.jpg

Any ideas how to fix this?

"using latest versions" is not specific enough since the latest version is constantly chaning... are you using

SMF 1.1.3 or 1.1.2
Joomla 1.0.12
bridge 2.0.x
apache? or other system?
windows or linux?
browser?

in a problem indicating file structure as the scource all this info is helpfull in finding the problem.

at first glance it looks like the functions.smf.php

 /home/flynbak3/public_html/cichlidspot/administrator/components/com_smf/functions.smf.php

is trying to create/edit a file called index.php at location

(/home/flynbak3:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp)

and the file exists. I think likely it does not have write permission on that file or that file is not supposed to be there...

how to fix this without more detail on that information I do not know. You will either have to research that info or find somebody who has run into it before. Help here is few and far between. In the last week or so I have been the only person trying to help in this forum and I am not qualified to help in matters of advanced php coding. I do my best.
