JOOMLA-SMF BRIDGE Version: 2.0.2 JOOMLA Version: Joomla! 1.0.12 Stable [ Sunfire ] 25 December 2006 01:00 UTC SMF Version:1.1.2 Please Describe the Issue:
Hi, It appears that the CSS from my SMF theme is being ignored or replaced by Joomla's CSS theme.
If you look at my forum wrapped in Joomla, the theme looks significantly different than if you look at the forum unwrapped.
Here's the Joomla-wrapped URL:
http://www.pcfforum.com
Here's the unwrapped URL:
http://www.pcfforum.com/SMF/index.php
Any help would be appreciated! |

I have also had trouble with this... My problem is being caused by caching regardless of cachig being turned off... if you wait a few hours without making any more changes then it will show up right... or if you simply refresh your screen several times... and sometimes if you clear your temp folder... It seems very finiky to me... never had this trouble till i started using joomla with smf... it just a problem bewteen the smf and joomla bridge... the css are conflicting i think... But i only know basics on how it all works... I have looked at your site and can verify that it is only a problem with your browser and not the site... everything looks fine from here

I was able to help it out a lot by disabling all caching in the SMF Bridge configuration. The only issue that I'm still working on getting corrected is the text color. The text color of the forum is matching whatever text color the Joomla template calls for. I'd like for the text color to match the forum template, not the Joomla template.

try going to the Joomla-smf config under components and check the cache config there... I just noticed that mine was on and my problem is all but gone..

Found it.. it is in the same place.. joomla-smf config ... under the main tab... "Include CSS from SMF Theme" make sure that is enabled.

Yeah, that took care of that problem. The other problem I'm dealing with is getting the forum to render properly in IE. For some reason, IE is placing the forum far down the page, leaving a big blank space on the top of my site. This problem doesn't occur with Firefox.
I'm also using a widescreen monitor so my resolution may be different than yours. I'll have to see how my site looks with a 4X3 aspect ratio.

Here's a couple screen shots from my PC to show what I'm seeing. The problem could potentially be from my widescreen monitor, I'm not sure. Here's a screen shot with Firefox: And, here's a screen shot with IE6: Right now I'm playing around with the style sheets for my Joomla template and my SMF template to see if I can get it straightened out. I'm no pro at PHP so it takes me a while to figure out how to do simple hacks.

it doesnt look that way on my browser IE7... it looks like your firefox image. maybe it is an IE6 problem? what version are you using? nevermind i see it... i woulndt mess with the css though cause then it will not look right in IE7. I would at least put a detect browser function in if you do.

I'll try playing with a browser detect function. Before I do that, I'm going to see if I have the same problem with a standard monitor display. I wouldn't think that it would matter, but you never know.

you may also wish to try viewing the site from another system entirely running IE.. go to a public library with internet access or something... there may not be any problem at all in which case you would be wasting your time lol.. something i never do.. (yeah right lol)
