Auto Logout when closing browser
« on: July 08, 2007, 06:52:33 AM »

Joomla 1.0.12
SMF 1.1.3
Joomlahacks 2.0.2

I really do hope someone can help me, I've been at this for a few weeks now and no amount of testing or searching any site or the web has resulted in the funcionality I seek  Sad

How do you set up Joomla/SMF/Joomlahacks so that when a user closes their browser they are automatically logged out? (i.e when re-opening your browser you have to login again)

I've manged to get my site to the point where logging properly out via the Logout button in either SMF or Joomla does work and logs you out of both. But if I simply close my browser (just like a lazy user would) then I am only logged out of Joomla and stay logged in to SMF.

I really do hope you guys can help as I feel I am close to launching my new site once I can get this to work as I desire.

P.S. I must stress that I am not a developer and no nothing about coding, but I can follow instructions if they are explained well  Wink

sounds to me like you only needed the Cummunity Builder (CB) with the CB smf plugin installed and/or the users syncronized?... That is all I did. My CB/Joomla users login is linked with my SMF login.

related settings could be...
     under modules in admin panel..
turn login form off and CB login on

     under Components/Dommunity Builder/tools
Synchronize Users

     under Components/Joomla_SMF Forums/Configuration
Regestration System set to CB
Login module set to CB

Components, Modules, and Plugins that may need installed
mod_cblogin can be downloaded at www.joomlapolis.com
Community Builder can be downloaded at www.joomlapolis.com
Joomla-SMF Forum can be downloaded here on joomlahacks

All this information has to do with login...

also under global settings on the server tab you will find the session lifetime set it low if you want the login session to time out quickly... you will find other helpfull settings there related to this.. but if you change the session lifetime just remember that the user will have to put his/her password in everytime that time period expires so dont set it to low..

That is all I can tell you. Sorry if any of this did not help. I have only been using joomla for three days.
