default/assigned template question
« on: July 05, 2007, 03:46:42 AM »

Joomla version: 1.0.12
SMF version: 1.1.2
Joomla-SMF version: 2.0.2

Hi, I have a Joomla website with a SMF-forum (obviously) and I would like to use the wrapped version of the forum in my website to keep the top-navigation where is should be and up-te-date

I have a right-side 2nd navigation on my website, and I do not want that with the forum, otherwise it takes up space we need for our silly conversations. I made a second template for the forum, without the right-side navigation, and that wors well when I choose 'forum' in the top-navigation. I assigned that second template to 'forum' in the top-navigation-menu. However when I open a board, topic, profile or any other item within the forum the default-template is restored and the forum-space is cut in half

doe anyone have a solution?

I can't quite picture what you are asking. Do you have some links for your site so that I can see what you are trying to describe?

actually, I solved is by reverse thinking Smiley

In Joomla you can assign a default template that will be used for the webpages, you can assign another template to other pages, like the forum. The forum opened in the assigned template but when a topic was opened the default template is used again.

Nog I set the forum-template as default template, but assigned the template that I wanted for my default-template to all website-pages. A bit complicated, since I will now have to assign that template to whatever new page I create, but I do not often make new pages.

It seems to work fine, there are problems with the bridge though, but that's a different kind of topic.
