Several Joomla/SMF Problems / Fresh Install
« on: July 02, 2007, 09:02:14 AM »

SMF Version: SMF 1.1.3
SMF 1.1.3
Joomla 1.0.12
JSMF 2.0.2 (com_smf_2_0_2.zip)
Forum:
Code:
h##p:www.grooveunited.com
Use this link to see problems...
If that link is down for some reason, let me know. The site is not yet 'live' as it is under construction. So it is just made visible overnight when I am working on it.

I have just installed SMF w/ the Bridge for Joomla.

Configuration settings are:

There are a few problems I am experiencing and was wondering if some kind soul could help me:

1.) Not being re-directed to forum upon login.
I have the JSMF set so that a user is supposed to be re-directed to the forum on login:
Redirect to Forum on login:   Enabled

I am getting this error message:
The page isn't redirecting properly in Firfox or IE7

FIREFOX
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
    *   This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.

Cookies are enabled

IE7

The user is not being re-directed to the forum when they log in from the Joomla login. Instead, they go to the home page.

2.) I can not log in to my SMF admin within Joomla.
I have wrapped integration enabled:
Wrapped Integration Mode:   Enable

I get this error when I try to log in to the admin from Joomla:
There is nothing but a blank page

If I go to this url:
http://www.mysite.com/forum
I can log in as admin no problem.

I thought maybe I had to synch the usernames or somthing, so I did that in the install part but I got this error:
Quote
Joomla/Mambo[0] / SMF[0] inserted Failed :grooveadmin : Failed : This e-mail is already registered. If you forgot the password click on \"Lost your Password\" and a new password will be sent to you
Patch SMF Source Files (Note: Unpatch before upgrading SMF or installing mod.)
Files include:
index.php
Sources/Subs.php

Joomla-SMF Forum Installation
Joomla/Mambo[0] / SMF[0] inserted Failed :grooveadmin : Failed : This e-mail is already registered. If you forgot the password click on \\\"Lost your Password\\\" and a new password will be sent to you. /home/xxxxx/public_html/administrator/components/com_smf/admin.smf.class.php createjoomlauser 577

3.) I only stay logged in for a few minutes at a time even tho I have it set to 60 minutes for the time to stay logged in for.
Not at all sure why this happens.

If anyone can provide help, I would be very grateful!

Thanks!

I can give you an answer for #3. The answer is fresh from the User Guide FAQ.
Code:
My session keeps logging out in SMF, why?
There are a number of reasons for this. If you login via cb login or Joomla! login and don't select remember me the session lifetime is 15 minutes. This is the Joomla! default session lifetime length that is set in global configuration as 900 seconds. Since Joomla! and SMF handle sessions very differently the bridge will exit both sessions if either one had exceeded the lifetime and logged you out.
The main difference is in Joomla! if you are actively browsing the site the session will last 15 minutes from your last activity. As long as you are browsing the site you won't be logged out. SMF does not handle sessions in that manner. So when we synchronize the session lifetime, SMF gets a session of 15 minutes and then logs you out. One option is to increase the session lifetime in Joomla! or suggest clicking remember me to your users.

Oh duh. I read through that post. I guess I'm just so stressed I missed it.

Thanks!

What about the other stuff? I posted over at SMF but they basically said they won't help me. So this place is my last option as no one over at the Joomla forums seems to be able to help either.

Thanks so much and sorry for making you copy and paste. My eyes are getting crossed with all this stuff! LOL

The blank page on admin login is confusing to me.

I looked at the fix for the general blank page error, but my problem is not the same. I see SMF fine, except when I try to log in as admin. That's the only time I get the blank page.

When I log in as a regular registered user, it's fine, except that I don't get re-directed to the forum as I wanted. I have that enabled, but I'm not being re-directed on login to the forum. I land on the Joomla index.

Any ideas?
