What Version Of Bridge Do I Use?
« on: June 28, 2007, 12:11:03 AM »

Hello,

I am so sorry if this is a dumb question, but I see a whole bunch of the SMF/Joomla Bridges on this page:
http://www.joomlahacks.com/joomla/components/Joomla-SMF_Forum/

I am unsure what to use. I have the following installed
Joomla 1.0.12
SMF 1.1.3

Do I use Joomla-SMF Forum 1.1.3??

Also, I have already installed the forum using Fantastico in cPanel and then I upgraded to the latest SMF using the Packages manager. Will the bridge work for me or do I need to do a manual install of SMF?

I've never done this before and want to do it right.

Other info that may be helpful

    * PHP Version 4.4.7
    * Apache/1.3.37 (Unix)

Thanks for any help you can give!

Sharing Same Database?
« Reply #1 on: June 28, 2007, 07:28:05 AM »

Another Question:

I notice in the pre-requisites it says:

Install SMF 1.1RC2+ on the same database as the Joomla/Mambo installation
Example Absolute Path: /home/user/public_html/smf/
Example SMF Forum URL: http://www.yoursite.com/smf

How do I install SMF on the same database as Joomla?

I made a directory called forum. So the link looks like:
http://www.mysite.com/forum

I am not sure how to make them be on the same database. When I install from Fantastico in cPanel, it does a seperate installation. How do you make SMF and Joomla share the same database?

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Trying to Install
« Reply #2 on: June 28, 2007, 07:45:53 AM »

OK I tried installing this file:
com_joomla_smf_1_1_4_2.zip

I installed the patch and began the configuration by clicking "Save" as the instructions stated.

I got this error message:
Quote
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ';' in /home/xxxxxx/public_html/administrator/components/com_smf/config.smf.php on line 6

What is wrong?

Thanks

Parsing, Syntax Errors??
« Reply #3 on: June 28, 2007, 08:00:38 AM »

Ok line 6 has the following:

$smf_redirect = ;

why is it stating there is an unexpected parsing error???

I tried changing it to:
$smf_redirect = "";

But then I got parsing errors on other lines.

I tried changing the whole thing to:
Code:
<?php
global $smf_path$smf_redirect$joomla_redirect$smf_prefix$mos_prefix;
global
$wrapped$sync_uname$hideemail$cbprofile$registration_module$login_module$mosurl;
global
$announce_url$news_url$latest_joomlasmf_url;
$smf_path "";
$smf_redirect "";
$joomla_redirect "";
$mos_prefix "jos_";
$smf_prefix "";
$wrapped "";
$sync_uname "";
$hideemail "";
$cbprofile 0;
$registration_module "";
$login_module "";
$mosurl "http://www.xxxxxxxxxxx.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=40&";
$jsmf_debug "";
//The following are used for the syndication feed
$announce_url "http://www.joomlahacks.com/news/mh_announcement.rdf";
$news_url "http://www.joomlahacks.com/index2.php?option=com_rss&feed=RSS1.0&no_html=ss1";
$latest_joomlasmf_url "http://www.joomlahacks.com/news/mh_mambo_smf_update.rdf";
?>

But then I started getting this error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ';' in /home/xxxx/public_html/administrator/components/com_smf/config.smf.php on line 6

So something is really wrong.

Does anyone know how to fix it?

OK after more digging I see I did this all wrong and must delete the forum I did with Fantastico. I found the 2.0 user guide and will use that to help me. I will post back with my findings.
