Bridge interferes with Joomla Tags!

Hello,

After installing the bridge and patching the index.php file, my joomla tags software stopped working  Sad. After unpatching the index it began working again so clearly is something in the patch that interferes with joomla tags.

Is there any way I can use the bridge without patching the file? If not, what else can I do?
