I am desperate - can no-one, will no-one, help?
« on: May 05, 2007, 08:29:26 PM »

OK, I am trying to install smf forum and the bridge on my site www.andrewmogford.net as a test before doing it on www.thehdgeneration.com

I have got CB installed and the very latest builds of smf forum and the bridge.

Part of my problem is that the download looks nothing like it does in the instructions.  There was ho unzip me first folder, but I just installed from the zip and it seemed to work.

Until I got to the patch.  I can patch the smf files, but not the joomla files.  I get the error message:

Failed: Code to be patched not found in file: header( 'Expirese:/domains/a/andrewmogford.net/user/htdocs/index.php

Now, I'm not too clever at this kind of stuff, but I am guessing it is a chmodding problem with the index.php file.  I have tried changing it to 777 but it doesn't seem to work (it is set to 700).

The instructions say there is some kind of joomla index patched zip in the download, but there isn't.  So, I searched on here and came across two topics.

One said that I should try the chmodding fix, but that didn't work.  The second pointed me to http://www.joomlahacks.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,94/topic,3459.0
and that does seem to have the missing index patched files in there.  But I have no idea what to do with them Sad  I have seached and searched I promise.  But I am thick.  I am sorry.

In addition, I know the next stage is to do something with a plugin for CB, but again the instructions say it is in the download file but it isn't.

I would be very grateful for your help on this.

Thanks in advance

I have now installed the ready patched index.php file as found in that thread "Look here for help" but it has not worked and CB is not working.

This is a time critical installation, and it looks like a really good component, and I'm sorry to push, but is there no-one out there that can help?

I may just have to get rid of the whole idea of using this patch and this forum which is really sad.

I appreciate that the bridge is free, and that a lot of hard work goes into it.  I would be happy to make a donation for its use but obviously not if I can't get it to work.

Is there no-one able to help me?
