SOLVED: Why oh Why Does it Unwrap???

I applied the fix outlined on page 19 of the user guide:

Hi-
I am trying to figure out why my wrapped SMF keeps unwrapping itself. Quotes unwrap it as well as other things that I think will be fixed if the quoting issue has a fix.
Here's my info:
Version Information:
Your Joomla version is: 1.0.12
Your SMF version is: 1.1.2
Your Joomla-SMF version: 2.0.2
I am also using CB version 1.0.2

Did you tried the option off the user guide?

Sorry- I did not notice anything in the user guide that would stop seemingly random unwrapping. I'll look again.

magic_quotes_gpc needs to be on, thats my guess.

Is that a server type setting?
EDIT: There it is-
Following PHP Server Settings are not optimal for Security and it is recommended to change them:

* PHP magic_quotes_gpc setting is `OFF` instead of `ON`
* Joomla! RG_EMULATION setting is `ON` instead of `OFF` in file globals.php
`ON` by default for compatibility reasons
Will that muck up any other stuff on the server if I request magic quotes to be set to on?
