Sync problem between joomla and smf
« on: March 25, 2007, 09:12:44 PM »

I have now over 3000 people in the forum and still growing. But when i went to make a manual sync, i got this error :

Joomla/Mambo[0] / SMF[0] inserted Failed :red1985feben : Failed : This e-mail is already registered. If you forgot the password click on \"Lost your Password\" and a new password will be sent to you.

And when i look for this mail, i dont find it. Is there a way to correct that problem ?

And some users seems to get 6-7 accounts, and i dont know how they do it or how to avoid it. They just have one in joomla, but many in SMF.

Thanks for the help provided

Where are you looking for the email address?  CB or SMF?

just try in your Joomla! backend
-Global Configuration
--Require Unique E-mail: NO

and try then to sync. Looks like there are accounts with the same e-mail adress

just try in your Joomla! backend
-Global Configuration
--Require Unique E-mail: NO

and try then to sync. Looks like there are accounts with the same e-mail adress

Worked out :

Joomla/Mambo[1] / SMF[0] inserted

And after that, i got back to the option of using just one mail per user, and it works. Thanks

As for that, what can i do about the other problem ? Of people having one account under Joomla, but multiple under SMF, but they seem to post with only the oldest of them.

Thanks for the help provided Smiley

yes, same username. Many members seem to get that problem. One of the mods had it, and i asked if she did somethng different, but she said no, so i still dont see where it comes from.

An exemple :

ID       Identifiant       Pseudonyme       Adresse courriel       Adresse IP       Dernière connexion       Messages
 923      Yngwie       Yngwie       name20042001@hotmail.com       xx.xx.xx.xx       1 jour      39
1368    Yngwie    Yngwie    ***@hotmail.com       Jamais    0
1369    Yngwie    Yngwie    ***@hotmail.com       Jamais    0
2268    Yngwie    Yngwie    ***@hotmail.com        Jamais    0
2269    Yngwie    Yngwie    ***@hotmail.com            Jamais    0
2551    Yngwie    Yngwie    ***@hotmail.com        Jamais    0
2552    Yngwie    Yngwie    ***@hotmail.com       Jamais    0
2730    Yngwie    Yngwie    ***@hotmail.com        Jamais    0
2731    Yngwie    Yngwie    ***@hotmail.com       Jamais    0
2788    Yngwie    Yngwie    ***@hotmail.com       Jamais    0
2789    Yngwie    Yngwie    ***@hotmail.com            Jamais    0
3139    Yngwie    Yngwie    ***@hotmail.com        Jamais    0
3140    Yngwie    Yngwie    ***@hotmail.com       Jamais    0

And there was still a lot of them. I have to delete them manually each time.

And also that :

 4040      aminas       aminas       ***@hotmail.com       ***.***.168.14       Aujourd'hui      7
3950    aminas    aminas    ***@hotmail.com    ***.***.255.221    4 jours    17

Same user, same person, same mail. But seems he posted with 2 accounts.

prior to JSMF 2.0.2 and JSMF CB plugin 2.0.3 there was the ability for a user to update their details in CB and if JSMF could not find the corresponding SMF user id, it would create a new user.  So my suggestion is to update to JSMF 2.0.2 and JSMF CB plugin  2.0.3.
