Need Help setting up SMF

Hey everyone. I need help on setting up SMF. I posted on a couple forums and got no answer, they redirected me here....kinda makes sense... I basically want total help on how to do everything... here's the pasted msg..

"I just installed the component but Im not sure how to set it up. I havent done anything but link it. Im thinking that I have to configure it...

It says SMF absolute path and the SMF table prefix...since they are supposed to be in the same database... I dont get that part... It says that it IS NOT installed in the same database.... If you dont get what I mean I can give u access.... Thanks"
