100% width for SMF forum another newbie
« on: March 05, 2007, 06:29:13 AM »

Hi all, I download the Joomlahacks bridge to the SMF, and all seems to like working well, now I need to integrate better the layout with the site, but I have an issue: I cannot "enlarge" the SMF forum to all the page width available, so reading the forum content is very difficult.

I tried to correct like p9939068 suggested in this topic before
http://www.joomlahacks.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,94/topic,2556.0

by replacing the original code with the
Code:
<?php if (mosCountModules'left' )) { ?>
  <div id="left_outer">
  <div id="left_inner">
  <?php mosLoadModules 'left', -); ?>
    </div>
  </div>
<?php ?>

and also tried with additional replace with:
Code:
<?php if (mosCountModules'right' )) { ?>
  <div id="right_outer">
  <div id="right_inner">
  <?php mosLoadModules 'right', -); ?>
    </div>
  </div>
<?php ?>

but the result is that the forum goes to left and still cannot fit the total width available! What's wrong? How can I correct my errors?
Here is my website forum's URL http://www.puntocina.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,84/

Hope you can help me, any suggestion will be appreciated, thank everybody in advance for the support.

Just un-publish your Modules when opening your Forum. You can do this in the Joomla! Admin panel –Modules—Select all the Modules en say to them that you not want to see them when opening the forum. Think that is what you are looking for

Livebox,

Is it possible to assign another version of the joomla template without non-module/component items like static images?

Thanks for your help.

Which J! template are you using? if you are using a fixed width template, the only way to make your forum 100% is to either unwrap it, or modify your template to be variable width (or i guess you could make it fixed width for your screen resolution... but it might not be optimal for others).

If you like, I would have some time later in the week to make your template variable width, or if you are not hung up on the template, just change to a variable width one that has already got collapsing columns (thats the easiest option)

Thanks JRW for the suggestions. The main problem is with the template it has a static image on the left that will not let the forum take on 100% of the template width as shown here:

The joomla template looks like this:

The offending image is highlighted above, the menu is ok i can disable it when going to the forums.

I could do away with it but i still want it to appear on the other pages but not on the forums.

Thanks Kwezi

PS: Sorry the site is offline as i want to finish the template first before going online
