Separate logins?
« on: February 21, 2007, 03:02:27 PM »

Sorry if this has been asked before or is to basic a question. Here is what I want to do:

- Integrate SMF with the bridge into Joomla.
- Login in SMF should only log the user into SMF but not simultaneously in Joomla.

If you ask why a bridge at all, here is my plan:

I want to have SMF visually integrated but circumvent the disadvantages of the Joomla wrapper. Joomla should be configured using the Cache component (http://www.joomlatwork.com). The component does not cache if a user is logged in. So I want to have users logged into SMF but not in Joomla.
Is this possible? If yes, how shall I proceed?

Thanks, Bernhard

Maybe this so easy that everybody believes I will find the solution myself. Unfortunately I am still without an idea.  Sad
A small hint would be great.

Thanks in advance,

Is it just as simple as not syncing the users? Or joice of login module?

Very backward way of running a website.  The bridge cannot handle this type of scenario.  Sorry.

Thanks for your answer!
Well, the backward way is forced because of the server architecture here. We rely heavily on the caching.
The bridge is doing two things:
(1)integrating the forum (visually and functionally, not like the joomla wrapper) and (2)integrating the users/login.
What we need in view of the caching is just the first integration. As it looks right now such a kind of integration is not available.
My impression is though, that it should be possible to get it by modifying the bridge. We will have a look at your code and maybe get something to work.

Thanks, Bernhard
