Separate Domains - JOOMLA/CB on Domain 1 ... SMF on Domain 2 - works but....
« Reply #15 on: March 01, 2007, 11:50:31 AM »

Hi Wolverine,
You are the master. I just schooled myself in the past month or so with joomla and I've been using phpbb since November. I didn't realize all these great new apps existed, web 2.0 is really coming along... My background is in programming.

I'm in the process of converting my seasonal jonesbeach.com (crap frontpage) site to joomla with smf and cb but for it to go smoothly I'm testing the entire suite / bridge on robertmoses.com and robertmoses.org

I'm not sure how unique my install is but I just installed all the latest joomla / smf / cb bridge in the following fashion: joomla/cb on robertmoses.com and SMF on robertmoses.org - I want to be able to have the forum as a separate site for convienence and I Thought that would be cool.

It seems to be working OK (bridged and using separate domains) but the one big problem is the login and registration through "direct" SMF domain is not syncing with my joomla/cb domain. I thought this was a 2 way street ? I figured out what's happening, when you select the forum link through Joomla, which probably most people do, it restructures the SMF forum so it specifically uses CB. When you hit the forum directly, without going through joomla, it reverts back to the default "stock" SMF login and registration as if there was no integration at all. Basically, it appears the actual SMF site was never modified to link with joomla, only the other way around.

Is there an easy way to fix this ?  Worst comes to Worst I'll just install the forum on the same domain (probably the way it was intended) and just forward the other domain.

any help is greatly appreciated.

Best,
Mike

Just picking up this thread...

I am still in the process of migrating a communtity with 12000 members from Nuke to Joomla! 1.0.12 / CB 1.0.2 / SMF 1.1.2

At this stage my users and the forum threads have been migrated successfully in SMF, but Joomla!/CB are still pretty much vanilla, no bridge installed.

So if your are still looking for testers, I am happy to give it a try...
pm me your email address, I'd love the input on a user base like yours!

Just another prodding, I haven't heard a single word from any of you about the testing.  Has anyone done any testing on 2.0.3?

Well, I'm about to install this whole thing (joomla/cb/smf) - the recommend way, with smf a sub-directory of joomla, on my site jonesbeach.com
JonesBeach.com is a seasonal site that gets over a million hits in the next 3 months. I am trying to extend the season with the community, gallery and other things that will make the site successfull all year long.

I guess indirectly I will be testing CB by default since that is what I will be using. Any problems I will report to this thread.

Best, Mike

The point is this post is started for Testers. If you want Support for back upping your site or other kind off support. You can ask this on the Right sections on the Support forums.

Please lets go On Topic. And that is…  Joomlahacks Needs some Testers for the new version. So this Bridge can be better and better.

ok, so here is the first error i see in the new jsmf version

In the forum the field for post started by is empty now.

i think the best is to screenshot and post here, so you know what i mean.

with jsmf 2.0.2 everything was normal

Hi Stefan thanks for your reply I have removed your email. Because you do not want spiders to pick up your email and come in one off there spam list.

The best way is to PM Wolverine with the request Wink

Hi,

maybe i misunderstood here something, but wasn't it intended to show the fields, that are synced now to cb (location / skype / gender and so on), in the forum on every post?

The information is shown in cb but i can't see it in the forum.

Could this be a bug or i'm doing something wrong?
