I have a test site with Joomla 1.1.2 bridged to SMF 1.1.1 which is bridged to Coppermine ghotogallery.  www.angelsonly.com/flyingeaglesrc2
I added Community builder and then changed SMF bridges to Joomlahacks 2.02 version.  Things now interact as expected again.  As Super Administrator I can login and any new accounts created after changing bridges can login.  All of the old users cannot login through the CB login from my joomla homepage.  I cannot edit or delete users from the Joomla user manager or CB user manager.  It says You cannot edit a "registered"  Only higher users have this power.

I can delete users from the SMF forum admin panel and old users can login through the forum login but not the CB login.

Any thoughts?

Have you installed the CB plugin?  That is my initial impression of the login problem you are having, that the CB plugin is not installed. 

About the user management, if you have CB installed you should only be using their user management.  And that also requires CB plugin to be installed.

Yes CB plugin is installed.  I went ahead and tried to install in my main site.  The other site is a test site.  Worst senario is that I would have to have the old users reregister.

I installed CB and used the CB login.  Everything seemed to work fine.  I then installed the bridge, plugin, and configured it as in the manual. (followed the directions exactly (I think Smiley )

I can no longer log in from either the cb login or the joomla login.
The page refreshes after clicking the login button but nothing else changes.

When I check the error log from my server I get the following messages.

[Wed Feb 21 19:12:11 2007] [error] [client 69.112.25.48] File does not exist: /home/flyingea/public_html/404.shtml
[Wed Feb 21 19:12:11 2007] [error] [client 69.112.25.48] File does not exist: /home/flyingea/public_html/templates/flying_eagles/images/bac_content1.png
[Wed Feb 21 19:12:11 2007] [error] [client 69.112.25.48] File does not exist: /home/flyingea/public_html/404.shtml
[Wed Feb 21 19:12:11 2007] [error] [client 69.112.25.48] File does not exist: /home/flyingea/public_html/templates/flying_eagles/images/bac_btn.png

Not sure if that is the problem or not.

The site is www.flyingeaglesrc.com
A test login is test1/a12345

Some additional information  Just for kicks I tried to login in Firefox and it worked.  So I deleted cookies and files in IE closed it down and it then worked when I reopened it.  Once!

After logging out I can't even reproduce getting it to work again.  I can still login via firefox.  Under firefox CB Online is reporting the users that couldn't get in via IE as being online.  Doesn't seem like they can logoff.

IE still works just fine for my other site which is set up the same with CB, SMF and coppermine photo gallery.

Can it be a file permission issue?
I still have the errors in the error log even when I can log in so I do not think that is the issue.  (any idea where they are coming from or how to figure out what is calling for those files?)

your joomla live site setting is www.flyingeaglesrc.com but your SMF Forum URL is simply flyingeaglesrc.com.  This is incorrect and since cookies are domain dependent, this is why you are not seeing yourself logged in.

I am not quite following you.
flyingeaglesrc.com takes me to my joomla main page.
flyingeaglesc.com/forum takes me directly to the forum

Are you saying my websie is set up wrong or one of my settings?

?  The www is missing?  I can access the forum with or without the www.  Do I need to add the www in one of my settings?  If so can you tell me where?

I was able to fix the problem with IE not being able to login by changing the login module listed in the Joomla-smf forum configuration to Joomla-SMF even though I am using the CB login module. Not sure why this works or even if it makes sense to you.

Can you please elaborate?

Jeez! I have no words.

In Joomla admin->global configuration->Server tab:Live Site

THE DOMAIN MUST EXACTLY MATCH

SMF Admin->Server Settings->Core Configuration:Forum URL


So if you have
http://www.yoursite.com in Joomla
and
http://yoursite.com/forum in SMF

you must change SMF to be
http://www.yoursite.com/forum

BECAUSE ITS MISSING THE WWW!  And the cookies are domain dependent.  I can't make it any more simple than that.

I am having the same problem where I cannot access / modify existing users login information.

I get an error
"you can not edit a 'registered', Only higher-level users have this power"

Since I am logged in using the admin account this should be possible

Thoughts?

The site is www.brookstonehoa.com/index.php

I did check the domain settings mentioned in this thread also..and they match

If a new user registers I can edit their profile... so maybe it is something with the user sync since I cannot edit old user information

Any thoughts would he helpful

I am having this exact problem.  I am within days of switching everyone over to my new community "portal" and i cannot get past this issue. 

The migrated users in jom_users ALL had "Migrated" as a password if that helps.  This is wayyy too frustrating.  I understand that i will most likely have to re-install everything to get this right.  I really don't want to have to do that though.  I have a very customized install already.

the problem here was that the domain name for SMF didn't match the domain name for Joomla.  If that truly is your problem then it is a simple fix.
