Hi I'm getting the same error. So far I have tracked it down to Artio SEF or the .htaccess. If I go to Global settings and turn SEF off the problem goes away.

Your Joomla version is: 1.0.12
Your SMF version is: 1.1.2
Your Joomla-SMF version: 2.0.2
Artio 1.4

Everything is patched OK as the bridge works fine without SEF on.

Revisiting the problem 2 days later Artio is not causing the problem so I get the error whenever SEF is turned on in the global settings. Any ideas?

The full error

Fatal error: Unknown(): The script tried to execute a method or access a property of an incomplete object. Please ensure that the class definition jsmffrontend of the object you are trying to operate on was loaded _before_ the session was started etc.

Please help...

I am having the same problem. It was all working fine with SEF 'ON' in global settings. All of a sudden it started not working and throwing me this fatal error.

Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have exactly the same problem.

If I disable SEF in Joomla everything works OK.  With it on it dies.

.htaccess is configured correctly and all components work with SEF ON except JSMF ?

The .htaccess is modified for a phpsuexec environment and I have php.ini files in all sub directories.

There is a problem running this code in CGI somewhere.

attached .htaccess and confirmed that all files are patched

Got a big problem..
I  upgraded.. pathing and unpatching is not working it says "unable to fine index.php file" (not possible!! site is working!!)

where can I find the single steps used for patching index.php?

I was running 1.0.4 and added 1.0.12 .. I overwrote everything but did not send over the install.php ..
Now I am getting this.
Fatal error: Undefined class name 'jsmffrontend' in /home3/icadmin/public_html/modules/mod_smf_login.php on line 107

I don't know where this is coming from or how to patch the index or how to possibly patch it manually as stated above. I am running smf forums.. if I turn login off.. the error goes away. I need it on.

I'm not sure I understand.. I looked all through this file.. I downloaded it and read it.. it doesn't state anything about the index file in there.. it points to the smf bridge and states to unpatch before upgrading the bridge. But I haven't upgraded the bridge.. I only updated and applied the patch for joomla.  Was I supposed to unpatch the smf before doing that? I'm confused.

Sorry, but please search the forums. This question is asked many times and also a solution is posted many times (we also covered it in the user guide faq and so on).
In the User guide and also in the link I gave you will find instruction of how to patch the J! files.

And when this is not working that there is a pre patched index file for the J!.
