I'm sorry, but if you chose to use UTF-8 then you need to know about database collations. There is no patch I can write that would solve this, it is configuration on your end. A simple google search will give you plenty of info like this link
It seamns that using Joomla-SMF 2.0 on Jooma with UTF-8 is not working. Even if: - database is using UTF-8 - joomla is corectly configured/patch for UTF-8 - smf 2.0 is installed with UTF-8.
yeah, smf doesn't play nice does it. SSI.php must be included for the bridge to work, but it does things that simply don't work well with the character display... or should I say when J! and SMF are loaded together they don't work well with each other.
