I friend of mine mentioned last night that I should make sure I have key words describing my site in my meta tags. Seen it posted in the forums, but never new what it was for. So I read some more, found the metadata tab in the Global configurations. I also installed the Metatag Generator component and added some keywords and descriptions. Do I do all the descriptions for all my content?
I did a search for my site, but instead Google found my profile info at Joomlahacks instead. Also Google found my site mentioned in other peoples forums, but not my own.
Is there something I need to do, in addition to what I have done above, to get Google to find posts in my forums, profile and content on my site?
Joomap and then use my JSMF joomap plugin. This creates a google valid sitemap. Then create a google account on http://www.google.com/webmasters/ and submit your sitemap. This will trigger the google bot to visit your site on a regular basis and the JSMF joomap plugin will add your forum posts to the Joomap sitemap for indexing by the google bot.
In terms of meta data, google ignores it however other search engines still use it. Your title is important as well. You should also note that some of the meta data and title from SMF is pulled into Joomla through JSMF configuration.
Ok, all set up. There was quite a bit to do at the Google account. I had no idea. So I still need the Metatag Generator component or should I un-install it?
Thanks for the info, I think this will really help the site.
This sounds like a noobie question, but where do I install the plugin? I placed it in components/com_joomap/ and it doesn't work. Anything else I need to do.
It is a noobie question. I just downloaded the documentation and am now realizing it is very extensive and very valuable. Therein is the answer. Thanks.
I would like to recommend make your site as Joomla Based Website For that you can contact Joomla Developers USA,also available for India & Canada
and second thing is that, meta data are not so useful but still you can use it just for some other search engines which Wolverine has already well explained
