Separate Databases
« on: December 18, 2006, 03:43:51 PM »

Hi All,

I have a Joomla website running under the latest release. I am running MySQL5 and PHP5 and all works fine.

I am looking to integrate SMF using the JoomlaHacks Bridge and have a question.

I would like to keep the Joomla site and SMF forum databases separate, ie have a database for each. Will the JoomlaHacks Bridge work correctly with 2 databases in such a configuration.

looking forward to hearing from you
Many thanks

no it will not work with separate databases.  This information is included in the JSMF user guide.

A question related to this...if I put the SMF forum into the same database as Joomla, is there any way to make the forum look like its own page, as opposed to a forum that looks kind of squished into my Joomla template?

This question is related to any version of the bridge...

Thats a good question. The squished look of the forum takes away from its intended design. Is there any way to do this?
