I need your opinion on my next project

Hi everyone

I am planing to open a Link Directory site using the Joomla and Smf and few other mods which makes it look like Link Directory site with little bit of forum and chat stuff.

but my question is will the SMF and Joomla will have Perfect wedding? i have tried so many times in my last few projects to have perfect harmony but it has never worked. sometime its my fault sometime the installation steps are to briefly described.

so i want to know how you guys do this. also is this effects on other Components and modules also themes?

i have fantastico and if i install SMF + JOOMLA from there would i be able to have it done by the bridge?

Please help me with this i really want to fix this problem.

Dont use fantastico.

It installs them to separate databases and they need to be in the same one.
