Problem installing com_smf_2_0.zip

Well I've read the PDF guide, superb btw I really like well formatted step by step instructions.

I'm using Joomla 1.0.11 stable and SMF 1.1 RC3

within Joomla control panel I installed the com_smf_2_0.zip that was extracted from the orignal zip source file JSMF_2_0_RC3_1_unzip1st

whilst doing the component install I get the following error

Unrecoverable error "PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10)"
[ Continue ... ]
Upload component - Failed
Installation file not found:

Just wondered if anyone can suggest please a fix.
