Avatar aspect ratio

Hullo,

Fabulous bridge, and any problems I've hit so far have been through my own dimness and easily resolved. However, there's one thing that I suspect is a functionality issue and not easily resolved. I can't find any mention of it on the forums, so here goes:

I've got a J!/CB/JSMF install with the latest versions of all three. When a user uploads an image using CB, it's automatically converted to their SMF avatar also. However, their picture in SMF is always squished. The aspect ratio of the original picture isn't kept to. Is this the same for all SMF sites, and is there a way of resolving it?

Cheers,
Dan

[EDIT - And of course someone else asked exactly the same thing just a few minutes before. Oops!]

pretty much, that is core SMF.  The best way to address this would be to match the pixel sizes and restrict your uploads in CB.

Thanks for your response. Since posting, I've been playing with uploading images through the SMF profile instead of through CB. The images are automatically scaled without changing their aspect ratio. Therefore SMF is capable of taking images and scaling them appropriately.

I guess it might be a question of where the image transfer function in the bridge hooks into in the SMF core stuff. Which is way beyond my level of technical expertise, and probably counts as a Feature Request.

As an aside, I seem to be able to break SMF image upload if I try to upload very large pictures!  Tongue

CB and SMF use different methods of conversion and both systems convert images before calling integration functions... so chances of a change are pretty slim.
