Why does Joomla have Real Name & Username backwards?

Real name = your real name, ie: Tom B
Username = the name you want to use on the site/forum, ie: Canuck

It's pretty straight forward and that's the way it' at every site and forum I have ever registered at in the past 9 years.

Joomla has it reversed.

I'm just curious if anybody knows why?
