« Reply #135 on: December 21, 2006, 11:10:55 AM »

to continue investigating the issue with my limited knowledge, i decided to give mod_smf_login 2.0.4 a try, since most of the users seem to be using it.

-i downloaded and installed this last version of the module
-i published it and unpublished the mod_cb_login i was using.
-i modified the setting in JSMF to use JSMF validation instead of CB

as soon as i tried to login from Joomlaīs frontpage i got redirected to Joomla's "you donīt have permission to access this area..." page, bein the url that appears on the browser:

http://www.mysite.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=143&action=login2&hash_passwrd=0&user=prueba&passwrd=prueba&cookielength=30

this happens with any user i try to login with if i use the JSMF login module  Cry

Any ideas?
NiCo

P.D: i really want to have the JSMF login module working to see if that solves the previously mentioned(see my post right before this one) problem.

this is solved now...i reinstalled JSMF 2.0RC3 and mod_smf_login 2.0.4 and it works now  Smiley

i have managed to isolate an interesting problem that before i thought it was related to other causes like mod_smf_login, or something else.

This is what happens in my scenario, if i follow all this steps.

- Joomla 1.0.11
- SMF 1.1
- JSMF 2.0RC3
- mod_smf_login 2.0.4
- Opensef 2.0.0 RC2 SP2 with Artio Joomfish patch

1) I set the Joomla menu item "Forum" access to Registered Users

2) In the frontpage, as a guest, i click on one of the mod_recent_topics links. Since i am not a registered user, i get the Joomla "You are not authorized to access this area....please login" (i donīt remember exactly...i have changed that text to fit my needs)

3) I click in my "Home" menu item...everything looks fine in the frontpage so far.

4) Now i log in with a valid user through mod_smf_login

And Bingo!!! i get again the Joomla "You are not authorised to access this area...please login" and in the address bar of the URL i have:
[
http://www.mysite.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=143&action=login2&hash_passwrd=0&user=prueba&passwrd=prueba&cookielength=60
]

after this, no matter what i do, i cannot get out of this loop(i cannot successfully login). Only if i clear all private data in Firefox(including cookies), close Firefox and start again.

Hopefully my detailed info will pinpoint where the problem might be  Huh

Cheers,
NiCo

The cache lifetime is too long for the bridge.  I will be shortening it in the next release so the cache file shouldn't get as large as it appears to be getting on some sites.  I may look to make it configurable as well.

How may I fix this in the meantime, it is beginning to happen a lot now, site is growing really fast and has quite a few people on at the same time.

the lifetime of the cache is set to 15 minutes, and because the cache is dynamic in the sense that the more pages you view during those 15 minutes the larger the cached value becomes.  I have reduced the cache lifetime to avoid this scenario and this will be in the next release.
next release means 2.1?
when?  Roll Eyes
because the error appears a lot of times!!  Undecided

thank you so much Wolverine for your work!!!!!  Wink

if you want to set your forum link to registered you need to follow the method in the JSMF user guide FAQ.

if you mean the User Guide in PDF at the start of this thread, i tried to download it and the link is broken.

Line 58 in Lite.php said:

Code:
    var $_lifeTime = 3600;

Seems this is the correct place for the lifetime and it's currently at 1 hour, i've changed to 900 for 15mins and i'll see if that resolves it.  cheers.

that won't solve it, that is the library and that is the default.  I am trying to get JSMF 2.0 final out today, its been a crazy week.  You need to change this where the options for the bridge are defined, in admin.smf.class.php
