Looks like I totally messed up my bridge installation yesterday. Some could login in while most could not. The bridge to SMF from CB and/or Joomla wasn't working. I had 3 mod_smf_login modules, and 3 the SMF_header_include mambots.
When I removed the SMF bridge component twice earlier I did not realize the module did not get removed and I wasn't aware there was a mambot.
I have un-installed everything but now when I go to login, either via CB or Joomla, the online status shows I'm in but both log ins module remain showing as if I am not logged in?
Looks like I have a mess on my hands. I guess the first thing I need to do is make sure the bridgge is completely gone, or should I just re-install it again and hope for the best?
This site has been down all morning, good to see it's back up.
Well I did learn something this morning. There are two versions of the bridge. One is Cowboy/Wolverine and the other is Orstio. I believe I got Orstio.
There are two reasons I wanted to bridge 1. One login for Joomla, CB and Forums 2. To install Discussbot, so comment on movies will be published in the forums.
Looks like I should have been using Cowboys/Wolverine's bridge to begin with. Can I simply download this bridge and install it, or is there something else I need to do to remove Orstio's (like in the ftp or database?)
Why dont you become more familiar with the workings of Joomla before you try to install components etc, it seems rather clear to me that you havent grasped many of the fundemantals of joomla's admin panel and there no real point of building a web site in which you cant administrate your self. I am not trying to be nasty by the way, I just noticed that you have bitten off more than you can chew, and I think you should slow down and learn more of the basic functions before adding additional ones.
Perhaps, but I've already had 12,000 uniques visitors in two months, close to a hundred members and really would like to be able to do this.
I think what happened was the first time I installed it, was my host server timed out (like this site has been doing all morning)as the component was being uploaded, and I ended up with a double install. I think that is what really started the mess.

Ok back up a bit. This website, its forums, and everything in it is related to the Cowboy/Wolverine bridge, and not the Orstio one, so all information you've had up till now is with regards to the former bridge.

Yup. I asked a couple days ago why the forum was called 2.0 when I couldn't find anything that was 2.0
I didn't know I was reading this morning at Joomla.org when somebody made reference to the two bridges. I investigated further and the light suddenly came on and I realized I had the wrong one.
I wanted to install the bridge to use discussbot which I found a few weeks ago. Turns out I need this bridge. I just didn't know there were two different ones.
Now I do. I even found a really nice pdf readme, which I wish I had all along. Just reading it now.
I kinda feel bad right now, but for a new person there is jsut a ton of information about bridges, and dozens of versions of SMF, Joomla and bridges. It's a bit overwhelming.
So here I am, starting from the beginning again (I hope). I'm going to try and install JSMF.
edit: Another thing, I thought this was a SMF 2.0 forum. So you can imagine the problems I had looking for the right version of SMF, when ther is no such thing as a SMF 2.0. I first downloaded the wrong one, an older one, because it was at the top of the SMF downloads. I did not know what RC2 and RC3 stood for so I figured they were beta betas. After I installed 1.0.9, I upgraded to 1.1 RC3 All I wanted was the latest most up-to-date versions, but even reading and asking in forums, people link you to other pages with a sea of info on it. Like I said there is just a lot of info (to much) for the new person.

Reading it right now. I have to go to work shortly for a few hours. I'll try installing this bridge tonight. Hopefully the orstio is gone, and won't effect this install.
pretty much, he leaves the mambot and a table named jos_smf_config if I am not mistaken. You must remove the mambot, the table can remain as it won't affect anything.
Installation was flawless and I took screenshots of every step I made.
So far two friends on vent told me they are getting the same thing.
When they login and logout they get the following error when logging in and out
In the login box this error Fatal error: Cannot redeclare db_query() (previously declared in /mnt/w0302/d26/s30/b028eecf/www/gamerztheatre.com/smf/Sources/Subs.php:237) in /mnt/w0002/d26/s30/b028eecf/www/gamerztheatre.com/smf/Sources/Subs.php on line 237
Log out box Fatal error: Cannot redeclare db_query() (previously declared in /mnt/w0302/d26/s30/b028eecf/www/gamerztheatre.com/smf/Sources/Subs.php:237) in /mnt/w0002/d26/s30/b028eecf/www/gamerztheatre.com/smf/Sources/Subs.php on line 237
When they log in they get the same error. But when they delete everything in the address window after www.gamerztheatre.com and refresh they are showing as logged in and able to access the forums but get an error when posting, despite the error the post is succesful.
I changed from CB registration and login to Joomla registration and login and they got the same error on login and logout. I settled on SMF login & registration and they still get the same thing on login and logout.
I know where to find the error, I just don't know what to do to fix it.
Also, I was able to log in without any errors, and my son was able to log in without any errors either on his computer. But I do get the error also when posting.
Thanks

Hey Tom, Tell you what. If you want, you should start all over again - Remove everything (Joomla, SMF, database tables, etc). Make sure your database and host is clear of all data (apart from your phpbb tables if you wish to convert them later). - PM me access details like control panel, database and ftp passwords and i'll be glad to set the basic site up: Joomla 1.0.11, SMF1.1 RC3, and JSMF2.0 RC2 (the bridge). You may then convert your phpbb tables to SMF yourself You may also want to PM me your msn address so we can go through the installation process if wish. But my timezone is GMT +8, so expect me online during the "human hours" of that time
Rgds, Mike

That is very kind of you to offer that and I'll accept that offer.
I'll PM you the details and some questions.
I don't have MSN at the moment, but I do have Skype, Xfire and Ventrillo.
I am working Fri-Sunday 06-1900hrs EST, so the weekend is not good for me. Monday I can do it, or I can just send you the info. Will I lose everything in my FTP? I have 11 gigs of movies there, should I download them?
My phpbb forums are in a separate database, so those forums shoud not be effected. I would love to be able to move all those posts to the SMF forums if possible. Also the reason for all this is that I want to be able to use discussbot, so comments/reviews of movies are posted in the forums.
It took me hundreds of hours to get the site the way it is now, but doing it over shouldn't take near as long since now I know what I want.
