I just successfully installed SMF. I thought I downloaded the most recent, it was at the top of the download page at the SMF site, and now realize it is an older version, 1.0.9 . I think it's version 1.1RC3 that is the newest. So what is 2.0.x? I don't see that anywhere?
I also just found out I can convert my existing phpbb forums to SMF (who knew? )
So I now I want 1. to convert my phpbb forums to SMF, (phpbb forum is in a separate database) 2. upgrade to 1.1RC3, 3. and bridge SMF to Joomla 1.0.11, 4. so it intergrates with community builder 1.0.1, 5. so that when readers want to comment on a movie, the comment is directed to the forums. (My site is a machinima movie site).
It seems that there is well over 100,000 posts and 50 different areas covering 100's of various versions, it's a rough sea of information especially somebody new to all this.
So far I have 1. SMF 1.0.9 installed, 2. the 1.1RC3 upgrade downloaded, 3. the phpbb2_to_smf.php ready to go, 4. I downloaded the smf_1-1-rc3_joomla_1-1-6_bridge.zip I assume this will integrate it with community builder.
So what is sequence of steps I should take. I can find the info how to do each step, I just don't know what order to do it in?
Addition info, Currently the SMF 1.0.9 is clean with not members no posts nothing except me on it. My phpbb forums,in separate database, has 80 members and 1800 posts.
I notice you are using SMF 1.1 RC1, should I be upgrading to that instead?
I know it is a lot, but it's overwhelming for me. I'm the same guy that had trouble just installing SMF

Ok if you ask me this is what I'll do. 1) Download and install SMF1.1 RC3. 2) Convert phpbb to SMF using phpbb2_to_smf.php (make sure this convertor works with SMF1.1 RC3, else you're pretty much stuck with SMF 1.0.9) 3) Download and install Joomla 4) Download and install JSMF bridge
Avoid moving on to step 3 before step 2 completes successfully, unless you decide to just f**k it and start a clean install with SMF (converts usually end up with a bucket load of problems. I know, i tried it before, so good luck )

your smf absolute path is not correct, it cannot be a relative path it must be absolute. refer to the user guide or the mouseover help for finding the correct absolute path.
Ok everything looks fine now, I'm a wreck, so I'm going for a long walk.
Thanks for the help and keeping me somewhat calm.
Nope my SMF forums still comes up first on the main page (I now have i wrapped). Why does it keep doing that?
The readme looks like another language. Looks like I need to copy paste some of that code in the template as well. I'm going to need another day to do this stuff.
