you can auto approve avatars... its in the CB admin options

actually, don't listen to me, I don't use CB that much so some of these others can help you better.  Or even moreso on www.joomlapolis.com

You should auto approve, just like what SMF does, since it'll be a pain if your user require the moderators' approval everytime they change a display pic. But if you wish to approve of any user activity, you need to install mod_comprofilermoderator.zip that came with the CB package. Instructions on the use of the moderator module can be found in CB's installation guide.

I looked through some of these pages and I am more confused the ever.

ALl i want to do is bridge joomla and smf... I downloaded the pdf, very well written, but I cant use this bridge because in the pdf it says my joomla and smf needs to be installed into the same db... im confused on that.. I have a separate sql db for joomla and one for smf... i thought that kind of install was common.. so if I cant use this because of how my install is, what can I use ?

Export your SMF tables into your Joomla DB, then change the server settings of SMF to edit the DB name.

How do i get avatars automatically synchronised between SMF and the CB? When my users upload the avatar and it is approved they have to klick on something like "sync avatar from CB to SMF".

I use the SMF Login (mod_smf_login), but users will not be logged of when they click on logout. they have to delete the cookie to get out of the system. What is the problem at this point?

Firstly, and this is purely my opinion, I think sites using CB with this bridge should be using the CB login module. When you use CB's registration and login, things seem clearer this way.

To get avatars automatically synchronized, install the cb_smf_plugin. However I do suspect that the plugin does not sync avatars that require moderator's approval. No idea about this, I've never set it to require approval.

I suppose your best bet will be to disable admin's approval to avatar upload, and switch to CB's login. If you're worried that your users may upload disapprovable images, CB actually allows the other users to report objectionable content. You will still be able to receive such notification through CB's moderators module.

Okay avatar prob is done. But there is one more problem. under the Joomla SMF Forum installation there is "Optional: Synchronize Joomla and SMF users(username or real name)." But where can i select what should be synched? There stands nothing like username or realname. When new users register they appear with there real name in tzhe forum, by clicking on the "real Name" the CD shows them with the username.

Thats what i have installed so far:

Version Information:
Your Joomla version is: 1.0.11
Your SMF version is: 1.1 RC3
Your Joomla-SMF version: 2.0 RC2
Latest Joomla-SMF version: 2.0RC2

done [verify]      Optional: Synchronize Joomla and SMF users(username or real name).

This was a bug that is fixed in RC3.
