Frontend editor removing frontpage status after saving...
« on: September 28, 2006, 12:37:08 PM »

Hi guys,

I am running:
CMS:  Joomla 1.0.11
Forum: SMF 1.1 RC3
Bridge:  JSMF 2.0 Beta 3

I have a strange problem, when I edit an article from the frontpage, and save the page, the article leaves the frontpage.  I don't have to actually edit the article. If I just open it up, and save it, the artilce leaves the frontpage. When I go to the backend, I noticed that the frontpage status was disabled. I have tried this many times, with the same result. When I edit any article from the backend the article keeps the frontpage status.

I have tried different editors with the same result...

I hope someone here ran into this problem before, or understands what is going on here...

seems like one of my addons may have broken some code, not sure where to begin, any help would be appreciated...

to make things a little clearer;

I just added an article, about a film festival coming to Vancouver this week. The article was created in the backend, using the "add new content" icon. I enabled this article to be viewable on the frontpage. It works perfectly, When I go the see the article, it is sitting nicely in the frontpage. Here is the problem, when I try to edit the contents of an article, using the frontend editor, by clicking on the little icon on the top right hand side of the article, the editor opens OK. I now notice the breadcrumb is pointing to home\news\. I make my changes, but as soon as I hit the save button, I am redirected to home\news\events\, with this message at the top "Item successfully saved". OK, now I go check the front page. The article that I just edited is not on the frontpage anymore. I can still see the article in it's own category, and all the changes I have made DID actually save. The problem is that any article that I want to quickly edit on the frontpage, after saving, will end up losing the frontpage status.

I have to manually change the status of all articles back to the frontpage status, so I might as well just edit the entire article in the backend.

The only reason I put the bridge info in this article, is just to show coders my setup. I am not trying to do anything with the bridge. Everything on the site works. I just want to be able to make quick edits using the frontend editor...

I hope I have made sense Smiley

Hi Paul...

What makes you think that JSMF 2.0 has anything to do with your problem?

It looks more suited(and therefore more likely to receive help) in the Joomla.org forums.

Cheers,
NiCo

Yeah, I don't really know what's cauing the problem, so I was hoping that someone here and at joomla.org may have run into this problem, and know a simple solution...
