SMF 1.1RC3 compatibility
« on: August 23, 2006, 03:35:09 AM »

Did someone tested the Joomla-SMF 1.1.4.2 with SMF1.1RC3 release?
Is it compatible?

I can do the test by myself only this weekend so...

THX!!

You would be much better off hanging on for the next release of the bridge.

I just got the notice on SMF 1.1RC3.  Looks like there is a security fix in there, so I need to consider updating.

I saw a couple of posts regarding possible issues, but have a site going live shortly.

Any advice on updating vs. waiting ?

Anything to watch out for with the update to SMF 1.1RC3 ?

Thanks,
Patrick

I just noticed that the security patch is available separately.

Has anyone tried this ?

I am assuming it would be applied with the standard
1. JSMF unpatch
2. apply via SMF Package Manager
3. JSMF patch

Thanks,
Patrick

Yes, RC3 is working without problems with 1.1.4.2 - tested it myself!

You will only expearience problems with CB(if you use it) - so I personally recommend updating.

I'm using CB 1.0.1.

What sort of problems ?

Are they related to the 1.1RC3 security fix ?

Thanks,
Patrick

I have problems with Joomla-SMF CB Plugin.
When it is activated and user try to log in, then it is telling him that the name is not existing and is refusing to log him in.

That is the only thing that I found.

Aaa, and if you use the possibility to redirect to CB profile instead to SMF, then this also not working.

What version of Joomla-SMF_cb_plugin are you using ?

I am using 1.0.1.  As I recall, there may have been a 1.0.2 that got yanked because of some problems (but I am not 100% sure of that).

Joomla-SMF_cb_plugin 1.0.1

It is the only available from the download section.
In one thread was also 1.0.2 but I never tried it.

OK, now I am worried!

What are the symptoms of the problem ?  I have CB1.0.1 running and it seems to be working.  What is not working on your site?

Does it fail only with the SMF1.1RC3 security patch, or was it failing before that ?

Thanks,
Patrick

I also have CB1.0.1. And it is also working! But I'm using CB Joomla-SMF Forum.
Plug in for CB, that helps the log in/logout process. You can find it in the download section of this web site.

And yes it fails only with SMF 1.1RC3 (and why security patch - was it the release so described?)

So wait for the new bridge, perhaps with him it will be all better. One week waiting is better than one week headache.

There are TWO updates you can get.  You can update to the "full" 1.1RC3 or you can apply just the security updates.  To apply only the security updates, you go to the package manager in SMF and the package will appear.

Did you apply the FULL update ?  Maybe the bug will not be there if you only do the security update.  I will probably give it a try tomorrow and let you know.

Thanks,
Patrick
