Need help with Joomla-SMF Installation

Hi all, i am trying to upload the joomla-smf bridge pack to my website, like the guide you have http://www.joomlahacks.com/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,41/func,fileinfo/id,345/ here..

I Click Upload&Install and i get this error.. :  Upload component - Upload Failed
ERROR: Could not find an XML setup file in the package.

Please somebody help me.. (xml file is in the folder)

unzip the file first

PS. use version 1.1.4.2 instead

I unzip the file , and i find a second zip inside, with name "com_joomla_smf_forum_1_1_RC1". This file im trying to upload..

You mean to unzip "com_joomla_smf_forum_1_1_RC1" file too? If yes, witch file i have to upload?

Geo,
Click on that link in my post, it has the latest j-smf release (1.1.4.2)

download that, and unzip it. yes, you are on the right track.. you should point your joomla installer to com_joomla_smf...1_1_4_2.zip!

I got the same error.. I tried to install it through a directory, so i got this error :

Failed to create directory "/home/karvouna/public_html/portal/components/com_smf/backup"

I tried to modify the permissions but it says that i have not access

i tried to install some templates too, but i got the same problem..

Maybe it's a problem with the permissions i have in my ftp?

yes they are normally writable.. (i changed them before the installation..) The problem is when the installer makes a new folder, it doesn't give the normal permissions

Maybe there is a way to install the smf bridge component manually guys? i mean without Joomla's installer, just from ftp

Noone has any solution?  Undecided Is the problem that my host has set the SAFE MODE  ON, maybe?  Huh
